Yesterday, I bought from EB, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, Phantasy Star Online Episode III and Skies of Arcadia Legends. With this I think by GC JRPG collection is complete unless I am missing some.
I have:
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals
Lost Kingdoms
Lost Kingdoms II
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Baten Kaitos
Baten Kaitos Orgins
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Tales of Symphonia
What am I missing?
I also got Shining Force Neo for PS2 and Dino Crisis (Don't know, just sounded cool but I know its not an JRPG) and Vandal Hearts for the PS1. Both of these were $4.99.
I think if I have finished my GC JRPG's I will start the PS1 JRPG's and finish my PS2 Collection. Any recommendations for the PS1? I already have all of the Final Fantasies for the PS1.
Hmm, Evolution Worlds? Never heard of that, but I will see if I can pick it up from an EB/Microplay or second hand store.
I keep forgetting I have Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger for the PS1 as well. So I have those two.
Are you buying them just because they're JPRPGs? Evolution was a pretty bad RPG when it was on the Dreamcast (Evolution 2 was better, but still not a good rpg). Dungeon crawlingi n that game is ridiculous and boring. It has a decent story but its not worth what you have to go through.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. If someone asked me, in one word, what I thought about Evolution on the whole, I'd have to say "arduous."
Huh. He has a one goggle thing that looks like an eye-patch, and his sword has a hook on it's hilt that looks like he has a hook for a hand. And his other sword is translucent, which makes it look like sea water. Huh.

In a word, yes. Its the main type of games I play, so I usually go get any and all JRPG's I can get regardless of whether its good or not. I do play all of them though as well so its not like they sit on the shelves unplayed. I go get decent hours + weekends to play so I do have the time and still have time to sleep.
So Evolution Worlds it is. I think there are two or more Harvest Moon games I have to get as well. Magical Memories and Another Wonderful Life.
Ports, I don't get unless I don't have the orginal. Since I don't have Summoner: A Goddess Reborn for the PS2 I will keep a look out for it.
I also haven't heard of Virtua Quest, but I will look into it.
For PS1 games, aside from the non-popular ones I can get cheaply, what should I expect to pay for the quality ones? Around $20 - $40? I guess Ebay is the prime source right?
Oh, how is PSO Ep. 3, by the way. Worth picking up at some point. I too like to buy RPG's, even if I don't play them sometimes.
Well, it's a CCG-RPG. And it's confusing. But it's pretty cool. I only played a few hours of it way back when so take my opinion for what it is. If you like Xenocard, you might like PSO3.

Yeah, I'm down with stuff like Phantom Dust, Lost Kingdoms, Baten Kaitos, etc.
I'm kind of leary though, after how horrible the turn based grid map combat was in Enchanted Arms, and that seems to be how battles in PSO3 are handled, except replace golems with cards.

That does seem to be a fair assessment of the mechanics, yes, though I do not claim to understand anything about the mechanics. I found the tutorial lacking and the game confusing. I'd really have to play more.
PSO3 is horrible. Really, really horrible. Don't even bother opening it up. Besides PSO1+2 there's also a Plus version that has extra features.
For PS1, there's the holy trinity of Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean 2, and...um...Legend of Dragoon. Which might have been made in America. But you still need to get it. It's awesome.
Weren't Grandstream Saga and Ephemeral Phantasia Jrpgs on ps1?
Neither of which were terribly interesting, but were decent hours of fun.
I don't know about the first one but Ephemeral Fantasia was on the PS2, I still have it. I have about 20 hours on it. Wasn't all that fun but for some reason I can't part with it.

There is also a "Plus" version of PSO Ep. I & II. I'm surprised you found that... I've been looking for ages and every EB/GS just says that they wouldn't accept that kinda trade-in (MMO).
Obviously, since there are the only games I play. I have tried other genre but nothing impressed me as much as JRPGs.
A second Gamecube and a buddy to help you actually play all this shit in one lifetime.
Not really. A couple of hours on weekdays before bed and a couple of intense hours at the weekends can actually put you in a good position. Lost Kingdoms was finished in 9 hours in one week.
I already have finished 4 of my PS2 JRPG's and 1 of my Gamecube one. Baten Kaitos is what I am playing currently.

I just asked the lady that was working there if she had it. She checked the system and found it in the back. I got Skies of Arcadia Legends that way as well but with a 10% discount since she first said there was no case but then found one so I still got the 10%.
So anyway, I always am on the look out at my local EB stores but I was wondering where is the best place to get PS1 games? Ebay I know, but something a little more structed so I can find what I am looking for.
You should run back to EB and return Shining Force NEO.
In fact, stay away from anything with the Shining Force name that isn't on the Genesis.
Uh, that would defeat the purpose of collecting all JRPG's now wouldn't it?
I suppose, if you're buying it purely to say you own it.
If you plan on actually playing it though, I'd throw it on to the bottom of your list. There's so many better games you could spend your time on.
Uh, what games I actually play are different that yours. I do have different taste than yours you do realize that?
Well I was speaking strictly in the JRPG category. There are a ton of better JRPGs you could be spending your time with. Especially since this particular genre is one of the most time-intensive.
Trust me, I've played most of what is out there, and even owned NEO for a while. It's average in every sense of the word.

I'll scour my collection in a bit.

Evolution 1 and 2 came out independently for the DC.
Then they compiled both games onto one disc for the GC and called it Evolution Worlds.
I think it's a cute, attractive, albeit kiddish game.
I see Virtua Quest? I remember it being a fighting RPG, but does it count?
It's a port from a PS2 game, but there are differences so I'm told.
Oh God I forgot about Virtua Quest.
What a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible game.
It's horrible.

If I could find Granstream Saga again, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I loved that game.
I loved that game so much.
Narrating for 56k, are we?
