So, one of Robert E. Howards most famous characters, asides from Conan and Kull, is getting the film treatment. Meet: Solomon Kane. Former mercernary, turned Puritan turned witchhunter/vanquisher of evil in 16th century England, Europe and Africa.
From Wikipedia:
The movie tells the origins of Solomon Kane and is hoped to be the first of a trilogy of movies. When the story opens Kane is a mercenary of Queen Elizabeth I fighting in Africa, but after an encounter with a demon, The Reaper, he realizes he must seek redemption or have his soul damned to Hell. He returns to England and lives a life of peace, converting to puritanism, but soon the doings of an evil sorcerer upset his plans and he must take up arms again.[2]
“James Purefoy has been cast as puritan [sic] swordsman Solomon Kane in a movie of the same name to be made from the stories of “Conan the Barbarian” creator Robert E. Howard. Kane is a 16th century soldier who learns that his brutal and cruel actions have damned him but is determined to redeem himself by living peacefully. But he finds himself dragged out of retirement for a fight against evil.”[3]
Yea, this guy.
Now, as far as I can tell, this movie isn't necesarrily based on any of Howard's works directly, but takes snippets from various stories and puts them together in a film.
James Purefoy is starring as Solomon Kane. You may remember Purefoy as the actor who portary Mark Antony in Rome, the HBO series. A very capable actor.
Also, you have Max von Sydow who has been in some great movies and in some not so grat movies (remember Druids starring Christopher Lambert?). Also, we have a relatively new director at the helm of this production in Michael J. Bassett.
The release date is scheduled for March 10, 2010 in the UK.
Now, this movie could end up being very good or very bad, but I thought enough people around here would find interest in it.
If someone wants to post up a trailer, that would be cool since I'm at work and I can't right now.
Also, this was screened at the last ComicCon aparently.

Well, this looks ok at best.
dolph lundgren is awesome what is wrong with you
he is the awesomest actor who makes the worst movies
ok yeah i guess i can't argue with you there
i will admit that i have never seen retrograde
And he can smell crime before it happens!
the worst movie ever is Mindhunters
fuck that was a terrible movie
Van Helsing was enjoyable if you ignored how horrible the story was.
Awesome action sequences, but the plot was stupid as hell.
Van Helsing was poop. From the butt.
From the butts of vampires, but not the hot vampire titty bitches though, the ugly demon spawn looking things.

this is the correct answer
the action sequences were in fact not very good and the acting was terrible and the special effects were also pretty crappy
but the worst thing, hands down, was the music
it was like crescendo after crescendo battering your eardrums until you were ready to promise to eat your own roasted bottom if it would just stop for the love of all that is holy
oooh, Con Air
eXXXtreme guitar riff following every damn thing happening on screen
I guess they were just trying to recreate some of that old-school monster movie campiness, or something.
yes but this was worst because it was EXTREME ORCHESTRA WITH SCREECHING VOCALISTS AND VIOLINS COMPETING FOR SUPREMACY
so like extreme guitar but times a hundred because there were that many more instruments involved
fuck everything, it will not

i like fun movies
this is not a fun movie, it is an unbelievably long example of how nobody should give that director any more money because The Mummy was the best thing he will ever do
yeah i don't know, it looked at least like the special effects were much better
the trailer was filled with one too many not-great one-liners but it could just be a mediocre trailer
i mean, the trailer for van helsing was pretty stellar so it's hard to judge
i actually feel like this trailer showed a bit too much of the story, so it leaves me without too much to expect
"oh, ok, so it's a movie about how he rescues this chick from some crazy demon thing"
i'm not really wondering what's going to happen because it kind of showed me
may we remind you shooting yourself in the head is not an option
the evil i know or the evil i don't... hmm...
