I just got an email from a faculty at UCSC saying that I will most likely be admitted (with funding!). And there are a couple of get-to-know-you questions.

about to go to college algebra, which is either going to be really boring or really hard
seeing as how i haven't had a math class in about 4 years, im betting on the latter
college algebra == sophomore year of high school algebra 2

He is scary as shit but holy crap he is such a good teacher, and incredibly patient.

I've been slacking on some papers that my supervisor is pushing me to write and I feel terrible about it, so my concession was that I was going to work on them while not paying attention in my supervisor's class.

Also I was away for a week and turns out missing a week of University classes is not like missing a week of high school classes. I had my nose in books for 3 days straight when I got back. Coming up for air only now because I had to work.

Seriously if you are thinking of doing something in the Humanities just don't do it and switch your major to some kind of engineering.
