Over in the chat thread, we've been discussing the need for a new mod over there. There are a ton of dead spots all day and night where there is no coverage. Pretty much all the regulars agree on this. We like to keep it clean over there, and while the current mods do a good job while there, we just don't have enough coverage.
There is nothing in the entire world more obnoxious than "___ for mod" campaigns. If there were a place for them, which there isn't, it would not be here.

I believe that when this forum was created, it was stated that although mods had power in here they weren't to use that power except in extreme cases.
We've had a lot of spamming of G&T lately and we wanted to see if we could have another mod. The purpose wasn't to nominate one person, but instead was to open discussions.
We've been discussing it for the last 5 or so pages in the G&T chat thread...it's been a healthy discussion, not some fanboy rantings about someone wanting to be a mod. We've just had a lot of posts.
A lot of people are upset with the comments from CT on this one...I'll leave that argument up to someone else.
We weren't trying to start shit or be combative...we've been having a discussion and figured it was best to bring it to the Mod's attention to see what we could figure out. We were truly looking for positive discussion.
I don't think who is chosen is all that important.(provided they don't abuse their powers obviously) We just need more coverage, plain and simple...

I'm not sure if we need another mod or not but I'm willing to entertain the idea. If you want to talk about it, feel free. POsting "________ for mod" will mostly annoy me.

Fair enough. Anything I said was merely a general suggestion. I think the issue is that people like MtDew aren't around much anymore even if they are there at all. It seems that when Raijin is out it is impossible to get a thread locked.
I have been trying to follow your advice and stay out of stupid threads in the hope they fall off the page, but we have a lot of "rubberneckers" (for lack of a better word) who will keep those things on page 1 forever.
Dew is MIA
Alpha is an admin, and understandably not often around for G&T modding
Raijin is usually on in the morning, then again in the evening.
90X is in and out, usually when I'm not on.
We tend to have a modless stretch of time from around noon until the end of the work day, and although we don't have much trouble in G&T, we've been having quite a bit of it recently, hence the request.
Yeah I didn't inted this to be a nomination thread, just a thread saying that we'd like a little morecoverage. I mean, the guys we have are great. I just wish they were around a bit more.

Yeah, I have noticed a lack of Dew as well. I'll try to get dyna to contact him and see what's going on.
Yea they should totaly bring Maud back, she was hot.

Just a quick observation, most of you posted in those threads you are complaining about. If you didn't they'd die a hell of a lot sooner.
It doesn't need a lock for a thread to die.
Trolls do stuff for attention, if you ignore their stupid threads, they'll get bored

I agree with this, the only problem is, posting in those threads...its like crack or something it seems. Could things like that be thought of as "in before the lock"?

While I agree with that, people who create threads with misleading titles and then post porn or whatever need to be dealt with. My work doesn't have a problem with me browsing the forums here. They do have a problem with NSFW stuff though, and I don't blame them.
The other thing is that G+T is really a community unto itself. And it feels that Rajin is the only mos that is really part of our community, to me at least. Mt. Dew is AWOL, and he never really posted much in our forum other than the occasional lock. Alpha has been too busy since the admin changeover to really make many posts over there, and 90x only posts about tech stuff. Rarely games, and rarely cassually. It'd be nice to have someone more "of the people" I guess. Someone we know and can relate to, not some force from above that just sweeps in.

Yes to this. It would be odd to have someone we never hear from telling us the laws of the boards.

Totally agreed. And I love Deni's whole "self-modding" thing. Problem is, a lot of people don't get it (and I will post in those threads after a page or so has already filled up, but usually only then). They either just plain don't understand that ignoring these guys will make them go away, or they feel that they need to punish them for making the thread. And by the time some of the forumers have learned a modicum of self-control, a new batch comes in and starts the vicious cycle all over again.
So yes, if everyone could learn to play nice that'd be great, but we all know that's not going to happen. If people were naturally brilliant and not flawed save for a few minor individuals, we wouldn't need Mods or Taxes or Charities. People will always break down even if they just want to post in the "bad thread" for a laugh.
I managed to PM Raijin for the first one that popped up today while he was still here. Locked. Gone. No Problem. We all wish people would leave these other threads alone, but they won't. If someone is around to handle them like that first one, shit won't pile up in threads like that.
EDIT: I guess I did post in that one thread fairly early on, but you have to admit eToy made a pretty funny comment.
Ecoterrorism is actually the single largest terrorist threat at the moment. They don't usually kill people, but they blow up or set on fire very expensive things.
Sixtail would probably do the modding of two-score men.
I sort of agree, but he might seriously overmod things (he has been good lately). But I think we have decided we aren't picking mods yet, just trying to make a case that additional mods are needed.
I will not submit an opinion for mod again until I am told by Deni or Alpha that it's cool.
Yeah, It would be nice to see a regular mod around.
that is all.

I've been saying it for over a year, people just don't listen.
Edit: Maybe bumping a useless thread with a stupid "why are you posting this cap?" comment could be jailable for a day? That may help..

I enjoy posting in those type of threads, as others do. Why people feel the need to complain because a stupid thread has been left open for a couple of hours, I don't understand. Now with what happened yesterday where some jackass spammed the board with threads, I could understand complaint.

Come now, I would behave. Not just saying that, but I know how to mod, having watched so many here do it. But that aside, I'd want Alpha to run me as a mod-lite first, and see what people would think. One reason I send so many PM's is I have no job and the PC's right in my bedroom. I can play FFXI and post all at once.
But for this go around, I'd want MA17. Give me a run as mod-lite and if I don't abuse it, or piss anyone off, then mark me maybe as a chance as modship.
I may scream fire the loudest, but given the hose, I would know what fires to put out and when the building's not on fire, someone's just burning toast.

Requesting a new mod is cool. However, the quickest way to ensure you will not be selected is to start going on about why you will be a good mod. Same goes for saying I want _____for mod. If a decision to mod someone is made, it will be discussed and the person selected will be chosen for their merits, not becuase 800 people think they should be a mod.

I would like to nominate MA17, as he is generally respected and has already served some time as a deputy.
Guess that means we get two!! w00t!
If it wasn't it needs to be.

I'll try to get in before the angry mob.

And mods who blatantly abuse their powers should have that power taken from them, but that's another topic entirely.
So I guess I'll support him.
