    Kale or Kalle might work. I believe it's pronounced "call", but there's probably no harm in making it "kayl". It's derived from the Romani word for "black".

    Oh god the cuteness of that puppy is blowing my mind. I grew up with German Shepherds and about 1.5 years ago we lost our family pet as well. My parents adopted a 5 year old shepherd but it's not the same as having a puppy.

    As for names I've always been partial to naming pets with people names. It always made them feel like more a part of the family to me. Suggestions:

    our dogs were/are named hannah gordon ava olivia and susie. They've all been perfect names, too.
