Holy shit, I'm glad this was about that particular comic, I fucking loved that comic. Especially the dude's face in the last panel, he looks so anxious. :^: :^:
It's funny when you listen to the experiences of QA at most companies, and it's like 'yeah I spend my day opening disc trays. Nah, I don't actually talk to anyone who's important, they don't even know I exist'.
And then I think about how the day previous I spent half an hour in deep discussion with one of theCinematic Designers about how a shot was constructed and why it wasn't really conveying the emotional content necessary.
Man, if I weren't working here, I'd have a hard time doing QA elsewhere.

I spent a week doing QA for the original Smash Bros. game. Best week of my life.

I like how they stopped to show the Michael Savage video
That's the kind of irrelevant bullshit I like in the podcasts and I like it even more when there's video

I loved in this episode, when they're doing the pan-and-scan of the finished strip - it ends with a closeup of his face, and a fade to black. It's chilling.

Seriously. I don't know how many times I've been like "No, look this test keeps failing because the design here is stupid. We need to change it to be this, instead," and then they do, and I've just tangibly improved the product.
It's even more amazing because this is at the same company.

There are many different kinds of QA positions, and it's really just the dregs of brute force testers who get that reputation. It only happens in games because for every other software product you can easily make automated tests to do that shit, and the features aren't obscured behind layers of gameplay so they're much easier to reproduce. I'm a developer and when QA says something is wrong I listen because they always know the product from a user perspective better than I do.
I wish I could get as excited about anything as Jerry does about adjectives

This was hilarious.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I will also, again, express enjoyment with regards to this video presentation whilst simultaneously mentioning my affection for the now discontinued podcast feature of the website pennies arcade.

Thanks!
Also, jesus christ, it still boggles my mind that someone thought game testing would be a good prize for anything.
i can barely do something for twenty minutes unless noises and lights are involved, nevermind like 12 fucking years.
"I hope I have left you with inspiration to craft genius..."
"Well, lets not go too crazy here, were just trying to shit out a jpeg."
Every time I force her to watch some video online and she doesn't leave me is a victory for us all.
But we're willing to forgive. Because that's just how we are.
