The manager named Ashley informed me that on weekends they only rsvp up to 6 people on the weekends. She said we could just walk in and they could "probably handle" us but it would be a long wait.
So, looks like we're going to have to think of some closer places and I can call them today/tomorrow and try to reserve some space.
I know the PrePAX dinner is happening at Fire & Ice and they're very open to setting things up and the extire process has been easy with a way to pay online before the event and everything. $30 a head with everything include except alcohol.

Unless this isn't kosher with forum rules then maybe put something in your signature.
We're all looking forward to it!
As far as the food goes, we should keep it close to the convention center and the price at a reasonable level. $30/person is a little steep unless they can guarantee fitting us all in together at about the same time.
When I get home tonight or if it gets slower at work I'll look for reasonable places really close to Hynes.
I agree $30 is steep but if they would put us together and that include tip/food/drink and everything then wouldn't be too bad. If someone has some food place options close to Hynes then let us know and I'll call.
May I suggest Maggianos? It's down the street from Fire and Ice, they have a banquet room, and it's fairly cheap

Sounds good! I looked them up online and will give them a call when I get home in the next 90 mins or so.
I will be attending with at least 3 other folks from our community (check my sig for affiliation)

Basically for $20.50 a head you can get 2 appetizers, two salads and two pastas served with lemon cookies. And the plates won't stop coming.
Not bad and I bet that food is insanely good.
I'll post updates shortly.
I tried to call Maggiano's when I got off but I was an hour too late so I am going to ring them up tomorrow morning before work or on the way and update when I am at work in the morning.
However, I am looking at Lir's website and they have typical bar food + pizza and Sun/Mon all pizzas are $4 and its a bar atmosphere and we'd have the entire floor.
Lir's sounds pretty hot, Waterborn if you can find out tomorrow if we can secure the top floor but I am still gonna try to get Maggiano's as a 2nd choice.
These cookies are just fucking wonderful. Unbelievably wonderful.
Bar atmosphere, floor to ourselves, and cheap food? Sounds like the perfect PAX meeting place for us!
LIR is 100% of the time a 21+ bar.
Cactus Club the Restaurant is all ages all the time and the bar is 21+ all the time.
Pour house 8pm becomes 21+
Whiskeys 10pm 21+
Hope this helps. I called each bar my self so i can tell you this is what i was directly told by each bar.
<Qs23> I just need to get my dicks in a row
<prox> i work for dicks
#paforums_pax, all about the dicks.
I think having an age limit could be a problem, though if we get there before they start checking ID's at the door they probably won't go table by table and kick people out. At least they don't do that in NYC.
Some Other Castle - 1
Electric Sisterhood - 2
Game Hounds - 4
The Married Gamers - 1
I think that's it, there may be more though. Provisionally I'd go for the above.
I didn't think about Lir being 21+. I also didn't know Cactus Club was 21+ as well. I'll see what Maggiano's can do then because we don't want people neglected
Is Fire&Ice a bad idea at 8:30pm?
Cactus Club won't rsvp us and Maggiano's is too expensive. For parties of our size we need to get a private banquet room and its $40 a pop + tip/drink. The lady said if I could guarantee a minimum of 60 people then she'd knock it down to $28 a person. However, I'll have to draw up a contract with them and make a deposit.
I think Fire & Ice is the best place. They're nice and open to us already and are doing the PrePax Dinner. Its $27.50 for everything. Drinks/tip...unlimited food. And we'll use the online checkin system so it'll come to $30.
Only problem is that we'd have to book it for 8:30pm. I don't think an hour is that big of a deal and I really want to get the reservation setup today.
So the question is... do a 21+ event or do an all ages 8:30pm event?

Atiari, not a problem. I think it was the best decision to make because everyone should be able to join us.
Sorry if it seems like I totally took over this project. I just wanted to get things finalized and ironed out.
As such, you've got my thanks for getting it together.
So, I'm assuming we will all need to pay ahead of time to reserve our seats? I don't exactly have a lot of money to throw around but I should be able to make it work.
Edit: I haven't finalized the rsvp yet and paid the deposit. I think Fire & Ice would be better since you have to be 21+ for bars and we're probably going to have 60-80 people.
I'm up for whatever, really. If too many people are unhappy with Fire & Ice and paying $25 then someone else come up with some ideas for people of all ages thats cheap. No one else has really given ideas out besides Waterborn and someone mentioned Maggiano's(which is way too expensive).
That was the same thing I was envisioning as well. Granted the cost isn't something I am thrilled about, but figured it would be well worth it in the good times and exchange of ideas that would be bouncing around.
Ya. I just don't know of any places within walking distance that is going to allow us to split 60-80 checks and we pay under $10-15. SUGGESTIONS WELCOME.
I don't think $22.50(excluding fees) is that bad when its all you can eat/drink(soda) and it includes tax/tip. I mean, even if we went to a place that had $13 dinners we're gonna get knocked with a $3-5 gratuity charge and $2-3 drink and local sales tax. It'll still come out to $18-$22 and not be all you can eat/drink.
Otherwise if Lir falls flat then we can just continue with the Fire & Ice plans. I don't have to make the deposit until next week anyways.
I called up Lir's and dropped Waterborn's name and such and got us a room upstairs for our party. We can do split checks or whatever and have access to the bar. $4 pizzas.
Must be 21 to go. Sorry atiari's +2 and others who aren't 21 yet.
