I'm from Cleveland, it sucks here. Now it's your turn.
I, Shaddz, may be moving to Chicago... Yes, I will be leaving the emerald lands of rain and Starbucks for the city of wind and... more Starbucks.
What I wanna know is this: Does anyone in the Chicago area attend PAX? And, if so, what is your method of transportation/cost effectiveness VS. driving, bussing, Amtrak, plane, etc., and what method of lodging do you use/prefer?
I ask because I may be moving over the summer, and, since I have obligations here at PAX I cannot possibly pass up (I owe many people many beers (*cough* Arnonaut-Liger-@DeejayKnight-BigRed-DIMD *cough-COUGH*), and I already have a lot of developer interviews lined up for my site)...
Also, if you were able to, how feasible is it to attend PAX Prime and PAX East?
Lastly, is there anyone in the area who could hook up with me and show me the sites? I used to live in the suburbs (Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Arlington Heights areas) 11+ years ago, and I attended Navy boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Base 2 years ago... So needless to say Im WAY the hell out of the loop.
Figure I'll go ahead and add the whole MNC, since there's five of us so far but only Winyder and I come into this forum to my knowledge, and I haven't seen him in here for a while.
Edit: Actually, I don't see an option to add our marker(s). How do we do that again?

Thanks Chi-town PAXers!
It's totally feasible to go to PAX from Chicago! We are from the area (Dekalb), but we are stationed in Missouri now. We drove up there to visit family before PAX East and flew out to Boston from Ohare. We flew American Airlines and tickets were about $175 roundtrip each. For PAX Prime tickets are running about $300ish roundtrip. But there is still plenty of time for tickets to go on sale. Alaska Air flies Seattle to Chicago and they usually have pretty good sales.
You can drive, but it's a long road trip. Boston is about 16 hours, and Seattle is about 36 hours.
I hope this helps!

Long road trip? Clearly you don't know about the CCST.
It's still not giving me the option, so I'll give it a little bit of time and see if that fixes things. I've got things I can pretend to be busy with for now, anyway.
No prob, I figured the site was probably acting wonky. Just curious, do you already have the other icons (flying, WCTT, etc) in there and they just aren't showing cause they haven't been used yet?
It'd be nice if there was a way to look by location, because those icons are just going to pile up on top of each other and make a huge mess.
Maybe a list of locales in the OP with the people's names under them?
You can zoom into the map to focus on specific locales.
Yeah, I know. I suppose you could just zoom waaaaaay in to break it up into individual people. It'd be nicer though if the list was organized somehow though for ease of use. At least maybe alphabetically.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Anyway.. I wish the Fruit Fucker icon was more noticeable, it's a little hard to see.
You might want to add in the OP to click the "My icons" link while adding a marker to get the special icons.
Maybe a list of locales in the OP with the people's names under them?
And with the added bonus of making more convenient for everyone else, huzzah!
Added my future location to it.

But no I'm not on a boat for anyone wondering
has anyone here travelled from Aus before? if so do you have any ideas/tips/suggestions that might help?
cheers
Somebody get Cuzza in here.
Last year, Cuzza flew from Perth to Seattle, from Seattle to Cleveland, then joined the Cross-Country Supertrip from there back to Seattle.
Then he spent the weekend Enforcing.
Hard-fucking-core.

I can't wait to see who else from around me is going. I would love to have some new gaming friends.
I haven't been before either, but it's nice to see other people coming from Australia!
