As far as composition goes, maybe move him a bit more to the left so the hand doesn't almost disappear off-screan, or add some stuff on the left so it's a bit more balanced. I'm not the best at composition myself, but I think I'd like a bit more space between the hand and the edge of the thing.
This is what I want.
Yes.
sort of
Also I don't have nearly as much practice drawing cool feathers
So I'm totally going to rip you off.
Just a heads up.
Go go go!
Still I think you should keep drawing and never stop!
I'm trying to draw every day, since I'm going to be starting a pretty strict "drawing-a-day" regimen pretty soon.
I'm pretty pumped about it!

Cicada studies, brutally asphyxiated by me personally
Basement environment study, worked on until I got severely bored
More studies. Photo-references are fucking awful and I hate them always
And some digital stuff I found myself doing when I wasn't unpacking boxes/passing out. Mostly done because I am horribly out of practice with all-digital work.
And because I was hideously bored and seriously out of ideas for what to draw.
I think I need to invest in some good drawing texts, because I can see myself running out of drawing models extremely quickly and need to study up on musculature and anatomy.
I recognized the quote and the filename confirmed my suspicions. Nice!
I keep loving your stuff. It's got a shit ton of personality, always. ALWAYS. I also like the colours on the bike guy. I am big fan of clashing colours, actually.
OMG i laughed so hard at this. BRAVO.
I like the last two images especially (or three including the MSPA art)
I didn't know you did this comic! someone posted it somewhere on here (prolly in the webcomics thread) and it just made me laugh and laugh so much I had to save it.
I'm a big fan fug!
except for her head which seems small for her body
^Please color this.
In general, your style is pleasing to look at, but you'd do better to push the foreshortening in your drawings (I'm thinking the thickness of their limbs, specifically).
I normally hate web comics (I don't even like mine!) But I could not stop laughing at this one. Holy crap it's so funny.
I'm going to look stupid here, but are you the one who draws the round white people of Perry Bible Fellowship?
SpexXx: h5. I am listening to Electric Six pretty much constantly now, so there is just going to be nothing but coded references from here on out.
Bel: Ohshit! I feel like I would have seen that since I stalk that thread fairly religiously. It must have been hidden under some Mega Tokyo. But I'm glad you like it! I'll try doing more.
Tam: Yeah, her noggin is in dire need of some upsizing. I am in a constant battle of trying to internalize proper proportions and I almost always miss the dumbest things until it's too late.
Paradise: Yeah, I'm doing what I can to push more dynamic compositions in my work. I always end up being so timid when it comes to action shots, but I think working digitally is starting to free some of that up, since Ctrl-Z makes it pretty low risk to really play around.
Alla resta y'alls: Thanks you!!
It's weird, because whenever I do figure drawing I almost always make the head too big, or the shoulders too narrow.
Huurgh people are hard!
Digital inks
And some colors
Tips on the coloring and lighting especially would be appreciated.
I guess I'll try to dredge up some nitpicks:
-Lines of red on the fingers, breast, rib, and shoulder fold can probably be eliminated, if the light is coming at all from behind as it looks like, these things wouldn't be lit by that source.
-A triangle of red on the left side of the nose could help the form a bit there.
-You might want to push the lighting over a bit on the abs so you don't have such a major break occurring straight down the center line. Most people don't have any sort of edge there, so using a spot such as the side of the abs and the obliques to turn the form is usually a better option.
-The collar should be casting a shadow.
-The background- Hard to give much advice until it's a little more finished, but at the moment I'd say I'm not sure if trying to paint rather than ink and color is the best design choice. I mean, if you're looking to broaden your painting skills and such go for it, and I can help you out with that (hint#1 is to use soft brushes for those kinda glow lights), but I wonder if rendering a bunch of stuff out is going to look incongruent with the character, and risks loosing the design sense that makes your work so fun to look at.

Well, I suppose I was just being paranoid that I was breaking some sort of lighting rules, or making a bunch of stupid mistakes and decisions. I'll try not to light the Bacon signal unless it's an actual emergency next time.
I am trying to improve my digital rendering skills, since I really know how to do little outside of the basic cell-style shading I tend to lean on. I'm not really looking for that to become my aesthetic focus, but I know it would be a useful tool to have in my arsenal. I think I got carried away on this one, though, since the line art really is more suited for a simpler style of rendering.
I feel kind of adrift in terms of digital painting, though. I can find tutorials for color and lighting, but I haven't been able to find good resources to tell me which brushes I should use for what, so I pretty much just lean on the round brush with varying levels of opacity.
Also thanks ND and Atom.
Yeah I do not get this whole digital painting deal. Reference is here
Also, as some of you may know I've started a 365 day art routine as a way of (hopefully) dramatically improving my skills, and I've set up a Blogger account to catalog this. Nothing hugely fancy, just kind of something to keep it all in one place. It will have maybe 90% overlap with this thread, but it's there.

Hahaha! Fug, we're on the same wavelength. It bugged the crap out of me that there were no pop culture references in Inception (especially no power fantasies).
I love lucid dreaming, it's awesome......but you forgot the "everyone wants to have sex with me" panel.
Some would argue that endeavor would be highly redundant heyo self burn!
Also thanks everyone else. And if anybody has an digital painting tips I would really appreciate it. The black and white photo-reffed piece was pretty tumultuous.
BLUG! Sorry I must have missed this while I was posting!
Dream Big took maybe a minute to thumbnail (after I kind of ran it through my head a couple times while at work), probably two and a half to three hours to draw/ink, then maybe another hour to scan and "color". It probably took me a bit longer than usual because I kind of lingered on the background in panel 3.
AUGH DIGITAL PAINTING HEEELP!
Reference here.
I am completely adrift. I have no idea what brushes I should be using or what settings or anything. I just blocked it in with a round brush and then tried to do gradients with fading, then I tried using a soft brush and it just made everything look all airbrushy and velvet painting-esque.
Emergency! Please help?
