The E3 Keynote Thread - EA Conference @ youtube.com/e3

Update: If you want to talk about the events of a conference AFTER it's happened so we don't get people talking about previous conferences while a current one is going, you can go to this thread.

It's that time of year again, and time for the traditional E3 Keynote thread. I'm assuming the mods have the same rule as last year

- We're only going to have one thread. Don't worry about making another one.

My suggestions for this year to keep things speedy:

- No gigantic GIF posting inline; please link
- No Youtube embedding (save that for the specific game threads)

I will attempt to transcribe the keynote into the IRC room as usual, but as usual if you want to do so yourself you are welcome to attempt it.

Thank you for putting GMT times on there, that's gonna be an actual help rather than me checking around and then counting back whatever amount of hours it is.

For those wanting to watch on TV (like me, since my internet sucks ass), it looks like Spike is going to be showing the Microsoft 6/14 conference for some reason. And like always G4 will be showing Nintendo and Sony, and also EA and Ubisoft.

It's the only reason to ever watch either of these channels!!

Spike TV is actually good for watching hours upon hours of CSI, and they show the Star Wars films a lot too.

Nobody is airing Konami's conference? That's the one I want to see goddamn it, there's a Castlevania: LoS trailer ready to go for that! D:

The Natal trainwreck isn't going to be aired until tuesday, so you might want to add that part in.

Oh and for the conference times, linking to these would be awesome:
    Microsoft's, Nintendo's and Sony's.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to stuff but I'm already anticipating disappointment.

Drinking game thoughts - one drink every time any of the big three say the following words:

    revolutionary
    innovative
    exclusive
    3D

Two drinks every time a celebrity appears on stage. An extra drink if the celebrity has very little to do with gaming or geek culture. (For instance, The Beatles last year would be two each. Justin Bieber would be three. Actually, Justin Bieber would be four, just because he's a special case.)

Two drinks if new piece of hardware is officially announced. One drink whenever a release date is mentioned for anything.

This is going to be fun.

You kinda need to list the big three and then the other ones. Though maybe there should be a second chronological list at the bottom.

Oh yeah. I didn't pay much attention that year. I keep thinking that something similar will happen this year. When the 3DS was announced I imagined everyone at Sony running around like headless chickens and then someone shouts "Quick!!! Get those plans for the PSP2 that we wasn't going to announce for six more months! It's now our E3 centre piece!!!"

This is pretty much what sold me on a Wii. Does anyone recall the video of that frustrated booth attendant who slams his fist onto his display cabinet as every single person going through the convention centre doors bolts down the hallway to get to the hands on Wii Demo.

I poked around a bit but couldn't find it.

Argh, E3 finally rolls around and I have to be working out of town for 10 days. I might be able to catch Microsoft's conference. Might. This displeases Monger.

Then again, I guess I don't really have to worry about the possibility of a James Cameron repeat. I'm kind of on board with this now.

Also, I'm just gonna leave these here:

I want natal to work with 360 controllers. By that I mean, imagine playing a tactical FPS. You have a squad behind you. You stop, then give the squad hand signals, and the AI picks them up. Small shit like that that would go a long way.

Alternatively, developers could just map that to a button. Then they'd be able to pull that off without wasting quite a bit of processing power for what would be a pretty trivial addition and require you to take your hand off the controller to do it.
