Nothing much. Just that they were changing the name. I told them I didn't want people confusing my comic with their movie, and he said that wouldn't happen because their FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is a movie, and my FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is a comic. I said no, and then he ended the call and told me to expect a follow-up call later.

Second to last panel she looks like a man to me. The jaw and chin just seem too sharp compared to other views of her. Otherwise it's still going great and I'm loving every minute of it.
There is a movie called Flight of the Living Dead coming out soon. Until last week it had a different title.
I have nothing to do with it. It has the same premise as my comic and will be released direct-to-DVD sometime this year. I have been talking to the producers of the movie for the past week, and they are releasing the movie with that title despite my wishes.
Edit: I've been advised to remove the part where I discuss the trailer of the movie.
Aw, that sucks. I guess that goes to show you that when you have an awesome piece of work, it's best to try for a copyright. Not that I really know how that all works.
As for the comic itself, as far as the artwork is concerned, it seems pretty solid to me. The dialogue feels kind of wooden, though.
My only comment would be in the most recent. I think it's just the angle and the surroundings (e.g. his arm and the chair) but his head in the last frame looks like a very large squarish block.
Actually, on a second look, it looks like his right shoulder attaches to the body too high/far back. Alternatively, his head could be too low.
Yeah, the comic is farout Scott, and please try and keep us abreast with this Straight-to-DVD movie crap you're dealing with. I think its a good case study (If you pardon the phrase) for a lot of us up-and-coming artists around here.
I never got into this post...but just read through them all. I think Im spoiled because I have to wait for the comics like everyone else now. Good work.
Okay, so I'm jobless and broke, and I need money. I've got 18 pages of Flight of the Living Dead done now and I'm thinking that in order to make some money off this (since the full graphic novel won't be done for quite some time), I want to put together the first three chapters (24 pages) into a comic and sell it. This would be coming out in late May and I'm wondering if anyone would want to pay money for it. It would be $3 plus shipping.
Or would you rather wait for the full graphic novel, considering it might be a year or more until it comes out?
Whatever you do, don't lose sight of your creative goal because your pocket book is empty right now. Or in other words, don't hork it all up because you're broke.
As for buying it, I would totally buy it if I weren't also a poor art student. By the end of May? Yeah, I should be able to afford it by then.
That French is kind of goofy, it's wrong grammatically, and also you might want to say something else like "Que passe-t-il?" or "Qu'est-ce qui s'passe?"
Just a quick addition to this... maybe it's just a typo, but it would actually be "Que se passe-t-il?". Also, "Qu'est-ce qui s'passe?" is common language while the other is more formal.
Well, for printing I'm probably going to go through Ka-Blam, which is print-on-demand, so that's not really a problem. I'll probably do an initial print run of 100 copies, then more if I need to.
One thing that's been brought up is I might want to finish chapter three for the website (6 more pages), then print up the issue and sell it, but do the rest of the story as comics that you have to buy (about four issues probably). I'm not totally comfortable with that, since this started out as a free webcomic and charging for it now seems cheap, but I have to eat.
The downside, of course, is that if I keep doing one page a week, which I have to since this is a side-project to a six-issue miniseries I'm working on, each issue will take about five months to come out.
$3.00 for 24 pages black and white. I'll have more info soon.
Only 3 bucks? Is there a way I can donate more? I can easily pay that and a lot more to keep you going - I love this comic. Or should I just buy several copies?

Three bucks is very reasonable, consider a little more if your are trying to get enough to support yourself. $5 for 24 pages is a great deal in my book. Anyway I'm looking forward to buying a copy.
Thanks, guys. I'm going to be printing up 100 copies through Ka-Blam and then selling them through Paypal and shipping them myself. So if you want to pay more than $3 for a copy of it, you will certainly have that option.
go to www.loc.gov, and they have forms you can print and fill out, then you need to send your comic in along with a processing fee ($40 I think), and you get a certificate back in a few weeks saying you own the copyright.

Why, I put an ad only six posts up that says the release date...
Anyhoo, I want to apologize for taking so long to get this page done. I've been working hard on my other comic (which comes out June 13, by the way, hint hint), but page 20 is very nearly finished and I'll probably be putting it up tomorrow.

wow. What did they tell you?

pfft.
I wonder if they're actually going to be calling you back.

Also: iPhone! I guess that came under the "unfair competition" part.
This is the final page of chapter two. Enjoy it, 'cause the comic's on hiatus for the next two weeks.
