(i bet not that many but dang that is a lot of champions with built in blinks)

There is a good number of blink champs, but most are situational IIRC:
Katarina requires a unit nearby
Akali requires an enemy nearby
Fiddlesticks requires channeling first and is an ult (not sure if you were counting it)
Then there's the "more like dashes" like Corki and Kassadin and kinda Shen which they can still be hit during
If you get down to it the only true "blinks" are Shaco and Ezreal

being hit during is little concern when you jump over a fucking wall
also kassadin is a true blink
it's kinda a relief because I won't get really good at him and still have people tell me I'm doing well because I'm good
I think I am just terrible at all melee heroes that aren't like Akali and Shaco

Sometimes you can't jump over tower rubble.
I think you can dash through it though.

Also note to self: don't just assume your teammates will be where you expect them to be. Look first before initiating a team fight with no teammates to fight it.

Frosteey was tearing it up this game... and we pretty much carried a bad team. Even the Akali was okay I guess, but made a lot of awful mistakes.

Even if you find out the other team has an Eve. Because your Eve will be the one that feeds for 75% of the game, killstealing towards the end when it doesn't matter because they're in your base.
I keep thinking to myself, "Nahh... I won't be a dick, maybe this Eve is actually decent."

Singed went 0-9, Amumu was 2-10..
Just really bad.
Their eve was good and was stomping akali. I saved ak a time or two and set up a kill on her doing that, which slowed her down.

basically I go rocket jump first then alternate between explosive shot and the attk speed one.
Only use rocket jump to escape or if you know you're going to get a kill. Same with Q.
Harass only with auto attack.
Stay patient.
Build your BF Sword. Get your zerker's greaves. Bloodthirster up ins.
I wonder if there's an item better than inf. edge next though.
Frozen mallet might be a good idea to get her some HP...

I disagree a little... if I'm soloing, I'll often rocket jump in to harass. They're damaged and slowed, making it harder to get away, and they take extra dmg due to being slowed. If they stay and fight, well, you can always run back too. It varies who you're fighting too of course.

Just, don't get them. You already have an something to increase your attack speed with Trist, attack speed is just too common on items to waste them on boots (ESPECIALLY when you could get mercury treads to counter the enemy's CC), and if you really need more attack speed later on just get a Last Whisper which you should get for the armor pen anyway.
What your Trist should be building up is more AD from IE and the like.
EDIT: this is to wazilla obviously. Trust me on this one bud, I made the mistake of thinking Trist should be MAKE THE ATTACK SPEEDIER MACHINE GUN CANNON WOOOOOOOOO and it took me a while to realise this was an awful idea.

Well this was when I had a lane partner. When I solo queue there are always 4 carries and then "GEE I HOPE SOMEBODY PLAYS A TANK!" and I got sick of tanking. But generally I let others make a mistake and capitalize on it rather than forcing the mistake. But I have definitely seen good tristanas do as you describe.

merc treads are very important for virtually every char. Also, when combined with frozen mallet, you get a large amount of survivability.

This. There are a small handful of characters that can reasonably go without Merc Treads, and those are the ones that have long cooldowns on abilities (Singed), or use all their abilities in one fast barrage where burst damage is very important (Heimer, Veigar), or depend heavily on movement speed to get their job done (Blitzcrank -- positioning for rocket grab). These can use something like Sorceror's Boots or Boots of Mobility or Boots of Swiftness, depending on their more important need -- Blitzcrank is a terror with Boots of Mobility, surprisingly enough. Motherfucker moves fast with those and Overdrive on, and unless you juke real well he will get you.
All other heroes should get Merc Treads, full stop, unless there's practically no slowing or CC on their team, in which case you'd probably win if you bought six faerie charms.

I will say, there are weird teams taht are virtually all "autoattacK" teams that make tabi worth it. Very rare though.
