PAXtra Life Kickoff Party 2010

Hey what's up Paxers, Some of you may remember me from the first year of button trading with the I Heart PAX buttons. Anyways, this year I'm vlogging the event and looking forward to meeting even more forumers and trading loads of buttons.

I just got my ticket for the Paxtra Life Party, It's like $30 but it goes to charity, you get a free shirt at the door as well as entry into some awesome giveaways. Pretty sure there will be a ton of popular gaming journalist, podcasters and developers there.

" Sarcastic Gamer’s 2nd annual PAXtra Life Party will be held Friday, September 3rd at the Fox Sports Grill in Seattle, Washington. A record number of Sarcastic Gamer personalities will make the trip and be on-hand (barring arrest or deportation) for an awesome evening, sponsored by Sumolounge bean bags and Split Reason. WHO’S COMING? Listen to this.

Tickets to the event will sell out and are currently available in the Sarcastic Gamer Store.

Do you really think it's a good idea to pit this right against the concerts? It would be different if this was one of those free parties that people could just pop into, but by charging $30, you're basically asking people to devote all of their Friday night to this one party, or risk not getting their money's worth.

Hey what's up Moe, I just found out about the party today.

I know it sold out last year, it is limited. The funds do go to the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

I just thought I'd let people know who are into the podcasting scene, which there are quite a few on the forums.
I personally have nothing to do with it, I'm just friends with a few of the people attending.
Also you can't suspect everyone goes to the concerts, I've been attending pay for charity and private pax parties for years, lot's of fun, great time to network. The first year I went to one I got a giftbag with a free 360 game, shirt, and tons of goodies, that was at The Blue Skittle Party for charity. Last year Tritton had a party for charity, I got free headphones and loads of stuff. Not to mention free drink all night.
It's well worth it, if concerts are not your thing.

Yeah, I think the charity part makes a difference. Knowing that I am getting my money's worth that way. :) I am planning to at least stop by and make the rounds. But like it was mentioned, there are tons of other things to do that night too! PAX is frakin busy.. no wonder we all get sick every year, no time for sleep :)

Definitely something I'm doing. I've been to PAX past 4 years and yes the concerts are great but you also have to be dedicated to stand in line to get in.

    I see it this way.

    1. Money goes to charity
    2. Place where all my friends and I can go together.
    3. Its not limited to who can come not like some other private parties that happen over the weekend.
    4. The more the merrier.

So hope to see you all there.

    <3 Ooopy

Avid and Kiki see you soon.

So while this event in itself is pretty amazing, good times, cool people, open bar etc. I want to make sure people actually know what Extra Life is all about, as this is the kickoff event for Extra Life.

    https://www.hospitalshelpingkids.org/ExtraLife/default.aspx

Read through the above and you will have a pretty good picture of what it is all about.

I think this is absolutely awesome and something that any of us lazy (or not so lazy) gamers can get behind.

    I have set up a group for PAX Gamers, you can find it here;

    https://www.hospitalshelpingkids.org/ExtraLife/team.aspx?id=CAD12755

You can enroll from that page via the "New Contestants" sign up button on the right hand side. During the sign up process you set your Goal (default is $96 - 4 people pledging $1/hr that you are gaming) as well as choose your preferred Children's Hospital for your donations to go toward (I chose Doernbecher here in Portland).

Once you are signed up you can then choose "my groups" from your account settings and search for the PAX group if you want to join the group.

Alternatively you can sign up solo and do your own thing, or if you don't want to be a part of the event but still want to donate, you can just donate from the site as well.

I hope a few of you sign up to be a part of this. How often can you say to people "Hey I have to play video games for 24 hours straight, but its for a good cause"

Tekno - This is awesome easysauce for you!! I've seen you spend entire weekends playing game after game after game :P

I'd donate to more charities if they had me play games instead of run marathons!! Count me in!!

Man, I can't wait until next year. I'm only 20 so all these awesome parties are mostly off-limits to me.

Good news! The PAXtra life party is open to people 17 and up! The open bar includes non-alcoholic drinks as well. Well at least soda. I don't know for sure if any specialty drinks will be available. I just don't want to say they will be on the off chance I'm wrong and you'll blame me!

I'm one of the staff members over at Sarcastic Gamer and I am totally pumped for this event. This is actually the first time that I'll get to meet the majority of the other staff members :D

I look forward to seeing you all there!

Pretty sure you just bring the printed receipt, whether there's a list or not, its probably a good idea. Either way, man, this is looking to be the highlight of PAX for me.

Some of the staff from RPGamer are planning to attend this party. Since I appreciate that site's content, I might pay a few dollars to attend the party. It'll add to my list of internet celebrities I've met (the Otaku Generation team, the Ninja Consultants, Hinano and JPMeyer, the staff from Okashi Studio...)
