Well now I have to drag my butt down to that theater. I was hoping the keynote speaker would be someone I wouldn't care about.

That's what I'm hoping happens with PAX East next year. I missed Wil Wheaton and I'd be mad if I missed someone else I wanted to hear

Warren Spector does sound cool though

I wish the keynote speakers would let us know what topic they're talking about before the keynote. I could be really interested in what he has to say, but I could not be, too.

    Warren Spector?!

    Awesome!!

This guy is the arbiter of the whole first-person-rpg-shooter thing that is the rage nowadays.

Mass Effect, CoD4+, BF: Bad Company and every other level up shooter can trace back to System Shock and Deus Ex with the core idea

maybe that will be the basis of his keynote speech?

yes, I know that games have tons of people contributing to make them what they are, but lead designers are the ones that get their names attached to it, unfortunately.

In 2008, the expo opened at 2PM, Omegathon R1 was 3:30-4:30, and the keynote was 4:30-5:30.

In 2009, the expo opened at 10AM, Omegathon R1 was 10-11am, and the keynote was from 1-2PM.

This year, Khoo has already said that the keynote will be at 10:30AM. We'll have to wait and see what time the Omegathon starts.

I could go either way on this one. What's going to be the deciding factor for me is if the 1st Q&A is going to be in the same block as this or not. The Q&A is not optional for me... ever.

Warren Spector is one of the most fascinating speakers in the industry. If you're interested in the sort of perspective that industry veterans like Ron Gilbert have offered in the past, you owe it to yourself to check out Mr. Spector's keynote. I heard him again on some of the recent E3 podcasts and was reminded of just how much he has to offer to anyone willing to lend an ear.

Here's one recent example. If you can spare twenty minutes, give that a listen.

Q: Will the theatre be cleared out between events, or will it be (more than likely) mandatory to go to the keynote if you want to see the Gabe and Tycho Q&A?
A: Like previous years, the Keynote will roll directly into the Gabe/Tycho Q&A. There is another event right after that as well, but no worries – there are 15 minute breaks between all “back-to-back” events for people to clear out if they would like to.

I'm pretty much a fan of anyone who had a part in Deus Ex. I'd probably ask for the autograph of the janitor who cleaned the cubicles of the guys working on Deus Ex. I'm definitely up for this. =)

He is ultimately (although not directly) responsible for the existence of Bioshock.

Fixed. In the future, you want to pay more attention to whether you want to remove the inner quote tag or the outer one.

And yeah, it's IGN. You'll find the article if you google for that highlighted bit in quotes.
