Fallout 3 and Mass Effect didn't even come out in the same year. Fallout 3 came out fall of 08, Mass Effect fall of 07. The PC port of Mass Effect came out Spring of 08 (a friend worked on it actually) but that's not the same thing. Both games were pretty awesome.

    Bioshock was meh though.

Bioshock was good for the first half and then it was the same crap for the second half of the game and an awful boss fight.

Also, it was really easy to break the game without trying to via upgrades.

people in these industries can be real cocks, apparently

it's pretty easy to turn people into misanthropes in the service industry

It had no charm. I need CHARM GODDAMMIT.

It's not, Ry. Fallout 3 has a lot going for it. The character interactions are great, the atmosphere of the Wasteland is pretty great. Even the storylines are great. There's a lot of fun to be had with Fallout 3.

But the graphics are poor, the animations are downright terrible (ever played in third person mode? THERE'S NO STRAFING ANIMATION. It's completely immersion breaking), the main character is a mute (personal pet peeve), there's all kinds of graphical glitches and game play bugs, some stupid design decisions (VATS lowering weapon reliability FASTER than non-VATS shooting when non-VATS shooting is FUCKING WORTHLESS) and over all sense of reaching for too many goals and making it half way on most of them. These kind of things hold Fallout 3 back from being a truly great game.

And none of those things were a problem for me. The gameplay is what's fun. Not the animations.
