Well have most of lower England and of course the king title now. I'm stripping all the duke titles in the hopes that by giving someone all of them they'll get a ton of vassals and be set up nicely. We actually have an heir in one of the counties there, I might just make him the King (he's my direct heir right now actually, so I'll do it once I have a son)
And of course we have more than enough prestige to clean out any random vassals via claims. Badboy is now the real limiter
If you click on the Papal State, it should have it in the text right there. The screen type where you could declare war/send fosterlings to the Papal State.
Ah, thanks, it is there. I just saved/reloaded every month for a year. Sometimes it seems to do the papal controller popup on loading and it eventually happened
We turn it up to 11. The pope approves. (August 1300 - February 1308)

It is time to solidify our holdings in both the middle east and France proper. Our first target is the Kingdom of Egypt.
The duchy of Aquitane is vassalized, bringing with it important holdings in the Iberian Peninsula and France.
Our brave armies were defeated in battle, but we quickly regroup and attack again with success.
The peasants in Baghdad return to work and prosperity increases. Continual construction will ensure that it retains it's spot as a jewel of the East.
One of my cousins finished his education. He remains at court for the moment.
The pope is interfering with our plans in Spain
But, due to a bug or something he accepts the peace deal anyway. He will be annexed by some random Danish county at some point
The King of France, with no French holdings, no longer deserves the title.
My 16th birthday reached, it is finally time to get married.
My wife becomes a martial nun and spymaster.
And appears to be sleeping around, which gets expensive
The pope is again interfering, but this one doesn't matter
Jerusalem is in revolt, but has converted to the true religon. The peasants will settle down eventually.
I have become a schemer.
Not a terrible trait, but I was hoping for better
The pope's interference in our wars has caused a backlash against his authority
We claim the French crown
It is now time to expand our English holdings, to pave the way for the future King of England.
Every independent county and duchy will be vassalized over the next couple years
My son was born today, Centule ve Vermandois, while another child catches an illness.
I am considered generous by the people of the realm.
We went to war with the heathens again. They must be pushed out of Iberia.
I dislike my father-in-law, but it does not result in a rivalry.
Egypt is almost ours
My sister finished her education and was appointed steward of our realm.
With my growing fame, many wish to join peacefully, rather than through war.
The king of Zenata loses the second war.
I have given my son to a local noble to raise.
While parental upbringing has some advantages, the outcomes from local nobles aren't that bad and I'm going to want a lot of sons anyway
I now have a second son, Manassès, my line is secure.
I now have a third son, Nicolau.
I am conflicted between recklessness and suspicion. I have decided to be less suspicious in the future.
With the successful conclusion of my wars, the time has come to reward my heirs. Bardas has been granted territories in southern England and Guillaume was given lands in Spain.
They are 4th and 6th in line to the throne, respectively (or 2nd and 3rd if you discount extra sons). The future Kings of Castille and England, if all goes as planned. There will be other crowns for my children anyway.
Despite our own financial situation, we manage to find some extra cash to help out the needy.
My wife died in labour, the kingdom is in mourning.
The pope finally realized we've owned Jerusalem for several years and called off the crusade.
And a second wife is found
Never satisfied, the pope called another crusade.
One of William's bastard children has legitimized his branch of the family! Good for him.
Yet another unfaithful wife
And a stillborn child, but we try again immediately.
War with Italy. Over the years many of our vassals have been at constant war with the King of Italy. Until now we have stayed out of the conflict, but not anymore.
While the crown is nice and let's me give away my Italian territories to the king, I really want his spanish holdings
Our bishop commits suicide today, he had been depressed for years. Unfortunately, we lack a replacement.
The pope finally recognized us, the crown of Charlemagne has returned to the family.
The crowns are Burgundy, Aragon, Castille, Egypt, England, France and Wales since it's hard to read.
Yeah, it was part of a title creation frenzy, along with Castille, Wales and a ton of dukes. Forgot to take a screenshot of it. Jerusalem is on the list, though I think I might have to ship some troops from Europe proper to have enough. As a bonus it may let the Byzantines recover
As for controlled collapse, the original dominion of Charlemange is pretty large.
Referencing the map in that link above,
- Non-Frankish Territories like Iberia, England, Brittany, and Outremer territories should become independent.
- Maybe we can keep most of Austrasia as core (i.e. Belgian territories, region between France-Germany),
- The other "Frankish territories" could become vassals (Saxony, Neustria, Aquitaine, Provence, Burgundy, Gascony, Lombardy, Bavaria, Alamannia, Carinthia, Frisia-Holland etc.)
- I'm not sure if our House inherited any place by marriage. Those areas should be part of the Core, if it doesn't fragment our territories.
We're going to see another round of collapse-and-change again come mid-1300's, I imagine, when the Black Death strikes?
It's just remember that after CK we have another 550 years which we'd like to keep fairly interesting. I'm already planning on lowering our infamy limit a bit in EU3 to try to limit things.
enlightenedbum on
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
We should also muck with the HRE forming. The current events are too easy. Maybe limit HRE actions to one a month so we can't blitz relations to form the strong empire.
Well, technically, our ruler going into EUIII might not have the crown, since we may dip below the minimum requirements for it along the way
Specifically, to become emperor you must not be modest, excommunicated, a heretic, or under duress, must have >= 0 stability, at least 500 cash, 500 prestige, 100 piety, 5 king titles (or germany + burgundy + italy), 10 duke vassals and good relations with the papal controller. While most of that isn't a problem, we may not have the king title requrements once we give stuff away
We are given a chance to steal relics from the enemy. We take it and gain much wealth.
A daughter!
Treacherous dogs! My enemy has sent assassins in the night to try to kill me. I fought them off, but they wounded me.
Wounded or not, the important things still get attention
My wound festers, I fear there is little time left in this world.
I spend much of my prestige enforcing my family's claims throughout the world. de Vermandois will sit on the throne in Constantinople one day!
Traitors. I may be on my deathbed, but if they think they can take advantage of that, they are sorely mistaken.
My chancellor died. She held the realm together when I was a boy, let's hope her successor can do the same for mine
My heir shall be educated at court
Peace with the Italian king. We stripped him of all territories west of Italy.
The badboy from this hurt.
This is our title dump character
I have granted many titles to my family today
Another daughter
Even more traitors. They wouldn't dare do this a year ago.
But I am not dead yet
All hail Centule, King of Burgundy, Aragon, Castille, Egypt, England, France, Wales and Italy. Duke of Alexandria, Aswan, Badajoz, Cordoba, Cyrennica, Deheuharth, Valencia, Vitebsk, Jerusalem, Porto and Toscana.
Okay, the situation is bearable. Net loyalty gain appears to be positive in the +3-4 range. We have -2.1% of badboy, but this is entirely due to the Irish war. Vassalize and recognize claims on the two there and it should drop a bit. Memel is also in the same position. You can also give out titles. We have an aunt - the Duchess of Auvergne as shown above. She's 72, no children, we are her heir, so we can dump all the titles we want on her and get them back quickly for free.
Overall, a fairly successful 20 years. I didn't quite conquer as much territory in the middle east as I had planned and Leon/Portugal will still need someone to go in and clean up the remains of Zenata, but the majority of southern England is ours, same with Italy, but the ex-king still owns half of it, need to revoke a lot of his count titles. Castille and Aragon are more or less formed. Ireland is formable in the next year.
And a fairly average reign length as well

He is pretty badass at that, Louis' stats at his best was like 7/4/10/8
And I found a dip 20 chancellor a little while before I died, compared to Eirene's dip 22, which given Centule has much better stats puts him in about the same position Louis was

The Empire
If we want something close to a collapse, can't we just kick it over to gavelkind? It's my understanding that that fucks things right up.
There's also persia/arabia/whatever. That would be a pretty epic war since I'd need to completely disassemble every muslim kingdom to do I think

Just pass the savegame and I'll get my cartographer's hands on them. :P
EDIT:
Bah. Saw the last part of the post - I'll grab the savegame and work on the map soonest.
Also, I altered Louis' title. He's Emperor Louis now. And I acknowledge that Eirene was the important person, really.
