the dude from red letter media makes a good point too
the lightsaber battles in the old films actually meant something
they had weight and drama and real emotion
they weren't just retarded spastic fucking over-choreographed, masturbatory events likened unto an epileptic child going into a fit while holding some glowsticks after popping a shitload of E during Tiesto's set at coachella.
Yeah, and he was right in that the most powerful indicator of this was when qui-gon got straight shanked in front of obi-wan.
Obi-wan is pissed, but it just degrades into the same standard shit immediately.
Luke just wailing into vader at the end of return of the jedi is intense. There's really no technique to it at all, the guy is just out for blood. Not so much with episode 1.

the Mace Windu episode of Tartakovsky is probably the coolest thing to add to Star Wars movies. showcase how fucking badass these dudes could be with their hands.
and then a bigass weapon that just punches the ground.
I've seen Hero and Fearless, and all of Tony Jaa's movies
Still need to see House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower
anything else come out recently that I've missed?
personally, I don't know, I saw hero and House of Flying Daggers and then I was kinda done with the whole thing
Really I just want some good fighting.
I don't care if it's wire fu or muay thai or whatever.
Some of the older stuff, the early Jet Li stuff for example, is pretty good. Once Upon a Time in China 1 and 2 were really good, and there was a thing with Jet Li being a goofball hero in a similar setting, Fong Sai Yook or something similar.
One of them has Jet Li fighting Donnie Yen. Donnie Yen completely demolishes dudes with a wet towel.

the sound of a small brazillian man foot-slapping a guy so hard in the face that he shits himself and dies isn't my definition of beauty.

once people got over whining about how it wasn't like the Tartakovsky show, it actually got pretty popular
like obi-wan not turning off his lightsaber when he ran after qui-gon and darth maul
just a fantastic way to get cut all to bits
and then a bigass weapon that just punches the ground.
Just clone commandos being complete badasses
Holy shit, it actually looks like they're trying to kill eachother!
I always wonder how a real sword fight would look like.
Then again, who am I kidding? I bet it involves a lot of this:

I love both for different reason
also, fuck any episode that prominently features snips
I used to love that movie
haven't seen it in years

It has some pretty great scenes

What spring does with the cherry trees.
this is probably the only guy who actually makes capoeira work in MMA. This KO is insane:

still, I could see a veteran fighter just grabbing one his limbs and then sprawling on top of him.

Also Fearless was an excellent display of different styles of martial arts.

i am lost
you just made martial arts sound like torture porn
it looks like Anakin's doing a one handed watermill
holy F that is nasty, I wouldn't be surprised if that broke his jaw
listen to the crunch
usually when I see people get hit so hard that their jaws get broken, the guy is still standing
Jon Jone's elbow is my weapon of choice.
I'm not sure if it says in that video (no sound) but that fractured Vera's skull in 3 places.
scary dude. ridiculous reach too.
Dunno if you're into old stuff but my favorite kung fu movie hands down is The Legend of the Drunken Master.
This is one reason why
