robothero wrote: »
Every guild's Ventrilo has the one person who talks way too loud (usually a young and/or drunk person) and the one person who talks way too quietly (usually the raid leader, main healer, main tank, or someone else totally vital to the raid.) But luckily for us, Thrux of Darkspear has come up with a handy guide to normalize everyone's voice on Vent:

Go to Setup
Enable Direct Sound
Select the SFX Button
Select Compressor and click Add.
Under Compressor Properties use the following settings:
Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
Attack = 0.01
Release = Around 500
Threshold = Around -30
Ratio = 100
Pre delay = 4.0
Done!
Thrux explains exactly what each of the settings does in his post, but I've found that his recommendations work pretty well. I've been using them myself, and Vent is altogether a more pleasant and quiet place. Now if there were only settings to get rid of the "I'm so high" dude ...

Here is how Recruit-A-Friend works. It's all very well described on the WoW site, so quit being confused illiterate dummmies:
Account B is created, referencing Account A as the recruiter.
Any same-level characters on accounts A and B get triple XP when they are together (before 60).
For every 2 levels earned by a character on Account B, that character can grant a free whole entire level to any lower-level character on Account A.
Also any character on A can summon any character on B once per hour, and vice versa.
Any more questions should be directed to learn to read.

Justice Point Conversion for 4.0
shryke wrote: »
Update on Currency Conversion:
We’ve revised the Justice Points conversion rate for Emblems of Triumph and Emblems of Frost. When the upcoming 4.0.1 patch goes live, these emblems will be converted into 11.58 Justice Points (up from the previously planned 2.75 Justice Points per emblem). Justice Points accrued above the soft cap of 4,000 will be converted to gold at a rate of 47.5 silver per point (down from 2 gold per point) when patch 4.0.3 goes live.

For those of you without calculators always at the ready:

345 Badges total gets you to the Soft Cap
Each badge above that amount is worth 5.5g

So you need less badges to hit the softcap, but the badge-to-gold conversion rate hasn't changed. So yeah for us!

And for your further AH loving use:
Primordial Saronite = 23 Badges = 266 Justice Points = 126g by the conversion rate
Multi-Colour Gems = 10 Badges = 109 Justice Points = 51.8g by the conversion rate
Single-Colour Gems = 20 Badges = 218 Justice Points = 103.6g by the conversion rate

So basically if you are over the cap and you can't sell these items for more then that much gold, don't bother. You'll make more with the conversion.

    WORLD OF WARCRAFT: CURSE OF THE WORGEN #1
    Written by MICKY NEILSON & JAMES WAUGH

    Cover by JOHN POLIDORA
    The best-selling WORLD OF WARCRAFT comic series returns in time for a worldwide CATACLYSM! A series of grisly, animalistic murders have rocked the walled town of Gilneas. A famous detective sets out to discover the perpetrators and finds far more than he bargained for. To find the truth, he must delve through years of twisted history – both the history of his family and Gilneas itself. This pivotal 5-issue miniseries explores the in-depth lore of the Worgen!

    'A famous detective' makes me think they're going to try to introduce a WoW-version of Sherlock Holmes. Time will only tell if they bother placing him into the game seeing Cataclysm will introduce Horatio Laine.

    Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for a limited-release Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft(R): Cataclysm(TM), the third expansion for the world's most popular subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game,* World of Warcraft. The special Collector's Edition package, which will only be available at retail stores, will include the following exclusive bonus items in addition to the game disc:

    -- Art of the Cataclysm art book, featuring 176 pages of never-before-seen images from the archives of the Blizzard Entertainment cinematics department and the World of Warcraft development team, as well as progressive visuals from multiple stages of development.

    -- Exclusive in-game pet: he may not be a breaker of worlds just yet, but Lil' Deathwing will still proudly accompany heroes on their struggle to save Azeroth from his much, much larger counterpart.

    -- Behind-the-scenes DVD with over an hour of developer interviews and commentaries, as well as a special Warcraft(R) retrospective examining the rich gaming history of the Warcraft universe.

    -- Soundtrack featuring 10 epic new tracks from Cataclysm, including exclusive bonus tracks.

    -- Special-edition mouse pad depicting Deathwing menacing the ravaged continents of Azeroth.

    -- World of Warcraft Trading Card Game cards, including a 60-card starter deck from the Wrathgate series, two extended-art cards, and two Collector's Edition-exclusive hero cards, marking the first appearance of goblin and worgen heroes in the TCG.

    The World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition will be available on DVD-ROM for Windows(R) XP/Windows Vista(R)/Windows(R) 7 and Macintosh(R) at a suggested retail price of $79.99.

    Early cata raiding is going to be interesting. Damn near all of the classes are going to function quite differently. I'm sure beta testers and EJ will make preparing to play them much easier, but it'll still be fun running relatively blind into a playstyle that's going to vary from somewhat different to not remotely similar.

    Although, I guess that's been the same for all expansions? I didn't really raid in BC.

    I wanna see how healing plays out in raids because some of the way they're doing things looks like they want healers to do spot damage when they have time free from doing their gig.

    Kinda hope not. I didn't really level up a healer so I could do damage. Doing shields with disc priest is fun, but it goes nicely with the healing, rather than being something totally different. But if it's fun, I'll do it.
