Didn't see a True Blood thread here, and since the most recent episode (or the last two minutes) is being hailed as 'groundbreaking' (and not in a cliched way), I thought maybe we should talk. HBO show about vampires co-existing with humans after a great revelation (that they exist). The show takes place in Bon Temps, LA (middle of nowhere) and centers on the relationship between a waitress and a vampire, and all the crazy adventures they end up having to deal with.
We are now in season three. The show often has gratuitous sex scenes (from the very beginning of the pilot), lots of nudity, lots of gore, and an ever-expanding mythos. The actress who plays Sookie (the waitress), has recently leaked that show has been tentatively renewed for five more seasons by HBO. So it's a keeper.
Now to discuss season three (and the most recent: episode nine):
Holy fucking shit, way to completely take the show in another direction with little notice. For the first two seasons the Vampire Rights Amendment and the political debate has been a backdrop, something you see on a TV or see in a newspaper while more important shit happens in the foreground. Now, BAM Russell assassinates a national TV anchor LIVE and starts his own very public human-vampire war. Did not see that coming. Best two minutes of the series.
Edit: The obvious solution is just to label a spoiler as book, or show+season

then i stopped watching due to lack of hbo
as for tonights episode
can i start season 1 on hulu or anywhere similar?
People are selling used for about $20 on Amazon. Which is pretty good for an HBO series. Other than that, it is still an HBO series so there is no other legal way to watch short of subscribing to HBO.
i really wanted to hate this show but it drew me in

Tiffany?'
Yeaaaaaa, no. Its also great because it doesn't take itself seriously at all.
Buffy took itself too serious.
This is also because once I put it on my iPod and brought it on an airplane and it turns out that it's sort of awkward in that context. Surprise!
An hour into the plane ride you realize the person next to you is also watching Sookie and Bill have sex
You are stuck next to this person for the rest of the trip
thank god there are only twelve more hours of flight time to go

"Groundbreaking" eh? Can't wait.
True Blood is very good at suprising me with its content.
I like that True Blood can be cheesy sometimes. It's not terribly serious but it can be fun.
I was pleased.
It barely seemed to be about vampires, as the story I stumbled onto was about some
Do they keep expanding the universe like this in the 3rd season? Because I am a sucker for campy mythological shows
Also, next episode should finally show the

So far in the show, they've had:
Shapeshifters
Werewolves
a Maenad (the witch/demigotthing)
Undisclosed in the show so far (but heavily hinted at), the books tell us that:
The hillbilly meth dealers are werepanthers
And the new waitress (and alot of people are speculating Jesus & Lafayette) are witches
So yes, they do keep expanding the supernatural universe. And it's incredibly campy in all the best possible ways.
So long as you come by it honestly.
