Ok so right at the end of PAX a guy came up and asked if he could infect me (sticker that said "infected" on it) I approved and he put the sticker on my badge. Asked him what it was about and he said he was just told to give the stickers out with no other explanation. So I'm asking all you, what was up with that? Was it some kind of game or experiment? It's been buggin me ever since I got home
It's a game that started on sunday of pax 2009. One of the enforcers 'infected' several of her co-workers, and the infection started spreading, with people either getting infected, becoming carriers, or getting to be immune. I don't know who was distributing the stickers this year, but last year, it was coming from the handheld lounge.
Usually, infected/carriers were told to go to the handheld lounge to pick up some stickers of their own to 'infect' their friends.
At the place with the enforcers [yeah, I can't remember what it's called] right to the left once you got on the 4th floor up all the escalators, there was a piece of paper that said something about 10 prizes if you collected enough empty sticker sheets to get enough clues to find someone.
I kept peeling mine off because I liked my badge without it... Sorry to be a bad sport, but I wish people would ask first before grabbing and stickering my badge!
Yeah, the game was out of the handheld lounge. If you were immune, you couldn't hand out stickers or get infected. If you were a carrier you could hand out stickers and you just "carried" the imaginary disease. If you were infected you had it and you could pass it on.
I do kind of agree about asking before putting stickers on badges, though I myself got a little carried away with ninja stickering people with the infection lol. On the other hand, the stickers were pretty easy to take off.
And no, the game has no point except that it's fun to see how many people got infected by the end.
If you turned in empty sticker sheets, you'd receive clues on who patient zero was.
If you found who patient zero was, you'd receive something from them to prove it and you'd bring said proof back to the consars table.
The first ten people to find the proxy won art pieces.
I got infected sat? Lol was I a early case? Wow resident evil all over again....... Could Seattle be the next raccoon city? Well I saw wesker there so I am gonna say... Yes! Run for your lives! Lol wish I had stickers to gov out I would want to infect other ppl that woulda been fun
I got infected late Sunday. Somebody just whacked a sticker on my badge as I was walking through the expo hall. I would have preferred to be asked first, or at least told what it was about.

Haha really?! I had no idea! Maybe next year they should make that more clear in the rule signs...or maybe that would cause an even bigger frenzy lol.

The first two days there were no indications of the prize or the point, but the enforcers at Handheld Tourney said they'd be doing something with it on Sunday.
Going back Sunday we found out about the prize, and also that half of a 8x11 sheet is needed for a clue (which we threw away several the previous day so that was kind of disappointing).
Also Sunday it was revealed that it mutated and Immune no longer applies (which I tried to explain to some dude who got super mad that I infected him but whatever).
The girl who infected Brian and I didn't ask first, but she did peer very closely at our badges first, I guess to make sure nothing was being ruined by the sticker? I never got a chance to get my stickers to infect others.

We figured out who patient zero was on Sunday assuming well after the prizes were given since we didn't get anything but a photo for proof. Still a lot of fun even without a point.

best story about this. My girlfriend and I were in the epic mickey booth and this little girl comes up and says "WOW I LOVE YOUR MUDKIP YOU HAVE ON YOUR LANYARD" "oh thank you" "It's so cute, and omg i love your octopus ring! it's adorable! Wow! ...you're infected" and put the sticker on her badge.
My badge was pretty decked in out in signatures so I had to pass
Sweet I'm not the only one who uses my passes for signatures. Last year I got Freezepop, and Paul and Storm, and this year I got JoCo, Steve Jackson, and Duke Nukem's autograph.
I still got infected, which I loved, I thought it was a fun thing to remember PAX by this year. the guy dodged my JoCo autograph by a hair, thank goodness. Steve Jackson partially signed my infected sticker with my badge, which I think is fitting.

Was it the girl with the Pacman head? She was super into it.
Some random dude put a "Carrier" sticker on me and then left. I asked and all I heard through the crowd was "hargle bargle FORUMZ".
I wasn't going to spend my already packed schedule trying to figure out a metagame so I didn't think too much about it. No one asked me about the sticker and I was never given stickers.

So if anyone noticed, at the little convenience store next door, there's a magazine cover with Jennifer Lopez on it, with an infected sticker on her stomach.

Now that is the way to go about playing this kind of game, not randomly slapping one on somebody as they're working their way through the crowds :P.

I'm with you on this one...
