e: Hey Archonex, could we get multiple starcraft construction facilties building different tiers of craft? Maybe only have one slab per facility for the low end stuff. That way someone could come into the game, run a few construction facilities and then go buy a cheap ship to learn how to fly around? Thinking about it, that might be a lot of work...

Well, this is depressing. We are no longer a space faring empire. It olled back so far we don't even have an airport yet. Looks like we have a lot of work to do all over again.

Ubuntu is horrible server software, it's slow and has hardware compatibility issues. In any professional environment you only hear about 2 Linux servers being used, Red Hat and Slackware. As you have noticed there is a reason for this.

Not a big deal. Now that I know what to aim for, I can power-level Hapshant to space era tech again. Plus, we all know where all the good resources in the solar system are now! In a way, this eliminates alot of the inefficiency in our empire. Trinity Base, for instance, was a planet filled with nothing but Lumenite and Eludium.


I'm sure the guys running Wangshire won't have that much of a problem too.


The funny thing is, just last night, I set our first frigate to patrol the cities to keep them safe from [strike]dirty foreigners[/strike] aliens, and monsters. Hapshant was about 100 percent safer with a frigate hovering overhead, raining death on any carnivores that entered into the city limits.

Does a ship require an officer to patrol on its own? I'm assuming yes. Does that mean there will only ever be 1 NPC ship patrolling a planet? And if that's also yes... wouldn't you rather him running things on the space station?

The first space station can run without an officer. I was using the officer to patrol, before. But once we get back on our feet I may save him for trading runs while I use a frigate or heavy transport to patrol dangerous colonies.


We get more officers per habitable planet we colonize. So colonizing more solar systems could be very useful in upping the number of officers we have.

Now that I've got a handle on building a city, I'd like to forward the cause of the [strike]Wang[/strike] [strike]Clawshrimp[/strike] (What flag are we flying again?) and expand our reach. I'll be looking for a starcraft/starship when I get home to go find a suitable place to put down.

Looks like im gonna have fun starting up the city again. Hopefully I can find that spot I colonized again since it was awesome for resources.

Edit: I think we should change our empire to something other than Republic since the roll back pretty much destroyed our empire. I would like to have rights to all cities and stuff without the hassle of voting (which hasn't worked).

I'm kinda feeling the same as Ryke. If we're gonna remake our empire now is the time to do it before we invest time into rebuilding what we had. Republic just isn't working out, especially if voting is busted.

I think my race got BOTP'd...

Flying is very useful for getting around the map quickly, it's much quicker than running, without using up stamina. It also cuts your hps by half Designing the city in safety is nice though. Just hover over the area and plant buildings, not worrying about the microscopic snake carnivore hitting you for 98 hps on a non-crit.

I designed a claw shrimp variation as well.

But yeah, my biggest point about the race is that points shouldn't be dumped into the natural weapon. We can get guns easily enough, at which point any natural weapons are fairly redundant. Rather have points in the stats (though apparently over 10 speed makes navigating spaceships a bitch), or tweaking the size of various limbs / the whole body to max out health (53).

e: From the manual, "When players join the game, they are offered a list of empires to join. Only empires with a capital city and an open immigration policy are listed. Without a capital city, it is more difficult for new players to join an empire."

I can't tell what my planet is like yet cuz' the foliage wont load so I can't make a flag. It's beautiful though, I'm orbiting a red star in a binary system. The snow looks like embers. It's a fitting ambiance for the Supreme Dominion.

I have a similar problem on my planet... either it's spining too fast, or the wind is blowing too hard, or something. I can't find any foliage, so I decide to make a flag out of animal skin. Every time I kill a beast I watch the carcass fly away. I can't move fast enough to chase it down either. No flag for me yet.

I'll see about making Fruitfucker as a race. It's sort of possible, given that the general body shape is there. It's just a matter of getting the skin texture right, which might not be doable.

You do realize that we would have to be herbivores if you do that though, right? I mean... it's the thing to do. And no farms, only orchards! Reap the Flesh (of the fruit)!

e: An image of a vast interstellar fleet with garden ships with row upon row of fruit trees springs to mind. Greenhouse Ships.

e2: My mind is churning, coming up with ideas. I should be working. We could take this theme to the extreme.

Man every time I try to make a character or empire I just get stuck at "Logging into Server".

Does this happen for anyone else?

EDIT: Scratch that, got in. Just took forever. Crafting doesn't seem to work though.

There's a bug that won't give you any status updates or let you craft the first time you log in. Log out and log back in and you will be able to.
