How many well-meaning grandparents have been suckered into buying the cheaply made knock-off consoles as Christmas presents? Too many. I've recently discovered this Ashens fellow's website and it seems he has made it his mission to expose and ridicule these wastes of plastic. No doubt he was a victim of Tiger handheld electronic games during his childhood and now he's seeking revenge.

Isn't there copyright violations that apply to these things? The "Polystation" thing is easy to distinguish from a PS3 upon examination, but at first glance, it may as well be a PS3, especially to a gift buyer with no experience with consoles. Sony would be losing money on these deals to some cheap knockoff stealing their design.

And how much are these anyways? Where do you buy them? Do they actually play the same games and, if so, how well?

EDIT: Some of these questions are being answered by this guy's videos.

There should be a nice toasty spot in Hell for the people responsible for these abominations.

I browse CAG every now and then looking for good videogame deals but there was a hilarious entry for last year's Black Friday sale. Walgreens was selling one of these knockoff consoles - I think it was the Vii - for 30% off the regular price! A Vii for $40? What a savings!

That Vii would have been a passable game console in the early 90s, judging on the video on it below. Not worth it nowadays by any stretch of the imagination.

For less than the price of a Vii you can pick up a used Xbox or Gamecube or PS2 at your friendly local video game store.
