I beat the game with around 24 hours played. Not bad. I chose the...
Ending where I side with Mr. House. The fight with the Lagate guy or whatever was fucking hard but I finally figured out what to do. I picked off his two Praetorian Guards with a sniper rifle and then gave him a nice sneak attack shot that took like half his HP. Then when the NCR showed up, I talked them into leaving instead of fighting.
The epilogue slideshow was much better than the one in FO3. It had a lot more detail and better explanations. There was some factions mentioned that I didn't even deal with that kinda made me wish I had done more with.
Which is what my second playthrough is for. I'm level 5 with Unarmed and man is it tough at the low level. Fighting enemies with guns is hard.
24 hours played?
Ben is at around 50+ hours and I know I'm probably closer to 60 or 70 and I feel like I've only scratched the surface.

Fuck you, Lakelurks! And fuck you guardian underwater cave that was BLACKED OUT for 10 seconds (going in the top side way was also blacked out for 10 seconds then it did a dramatic fade-in, the opposite of when you first go outside of Doc Mitchell's office). The not underwater fade-in was fine... the underwater one was..... death.

I probably save time by going "clickclickclickclick" through all dialogue. I don't have the patience for listening to the voice acting and I look for keywords in the text rather than read the full text. Which has caused problems in the non-quest quests (like finding the missing laser pistol).

way to completely miss the point, bro
(naw I do that too, skipping the voice acting.)
unless it's either someone who sounds really cool, or something important I'll let the subtitles show up and read them, and then skip to the next one.
I always let Boone talk all the way through though.

Why in the fuck are you even playing a Bethesda game then?
Theres nothing wrong with clicking through the text if you read faster than they're talkin'
but that still assumes you're reading the whole thing, not just glancing at keywords, missing a buncha stuff in the process
I didn't miss a damn thing. I know the story and I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to doing things differently the second time around.
I think maybe you're just looking forward to doing all of the stuff you never even approached
Yeah that too. I never even bothered with the Apocalypse people or the Fiends. Or some of the other companions like Arcade. I didn't even know they existed until the end credits. So instead of running around with Boone and Cassidy, I'm gonna try some other companions like Lily and Arcade.
Plus, I'm gonna side with the Legion and wipe out those NCR fucks.
No, but you can get into Vault 3 scott free if you lie or get the Khans to send you there.
So scott free in fact that you can start shooting up the place and if you successfully hide until the enemies aren't red anymore they'll forget you just killed 30 of their friends.
you can do gannon's questline
or if you do the brotherhood quests they give you a suit of unaffiliated t45-d (the ugly stuff from fallout 3)
and in the brotherhood shop you can buy unaffiliated t51-b (it's green though)

In fairness I don't know how you read things but it seems super unlikely you avoided missing anything by only looking at "keywords"
I mean how can that even be more efficient/quicker than just reading normally, these aren't Planescape: Torment paragraphs here.
K, this is what I got from the main story line and then I'm going to bed.
You wake up in Goodspring all confused as fuck cuz your ass was dead. You meet Victor, a robot that found you and raised from the grave. From there, you head to Primm and to try track down your killers. In exchange for information, you rescue the deputy and help Primm get a new sheriff. Then it's off to Novac to chase down your killer, learning little bits of information along the way about him. In Novac, you take care of some ghouls and learn about Boone and his wife being taken by Legion slavers. Boone can join your group and god damn is he a good shot. Your next clue leads you to Boulder City to diffuse a situation between the NCR and the Great Khans. The Khan's tell you that your killer was a guy named Benny and he was after the Platinum Chip you were carrying.
Fast forward to Freeside, the Courier needs a Passport to access New Vegas which can be obtained by working for the Kings. The Kings are a group of Elvis impersonators that look to control Freeside. Upon helping them, you earn a Passport and a new companion in a robodog named Rex that has a sick brain. Once you get that passport, Mr. House in the shut down casino Lucky 38 wants to meet you. He turns out to be a brain in a computer from a long dead man.
Mr. House has glorious visions about restoring New Vegas to it's pre-war state and he doesn't care who has to fuck with to get it that way. He wants the NCR, the Legion, the Brotherhood of Steel, the Boomers and everyone else either out of his way or on his side. Mr. House reveals to you that you were just one of 6 couriers, the other 5 being dummies and all 6 were killed for the Platinum Chip. Benny has the Platinum Chip still and you should visit him. Upon visit Benny, you kill him and get the chip back. You also learn about the "yes man", his own Securitron he was planning on replacing Mr. House with. When you return the Platinum Chip to Mr. House, you learn that it's true purpose is to turn the Securitrons from a police force into a military force by upgrading and unlocking their systems.
At that point, Mr. House asks you to gain favor/wipe out several factions. Including destroying the Brotherhood of Steel, getting the Boomers on your side and putting down the resistance in the Gomorrah casino. Then you're tasked with going to Mr. House's bunker to restore power from the Fort and wipe out the Legion's leadership.
Lastly, it's time to take the final battle to the Hoover Dam where you reroute all power from the Dam to New Vegas. With the help of Mr. House's forces, the Courier wipes out the remaining Legion forces and forces the NCR to surrender and leave the area. Credits.

I'm not raijin but the answer is hell yes there is
you get a whole bunch of stuff at the end
so might want to come light
may even consider going from heavy to light armor if you wear any at all, to save on weight. honestly I'd recommend none, you shouldn't need it.
That enough

TLDR: Mr. House takes over through robots.
And that's what I got from the main story.
you were fucking swimming in power armor by then end of Fallout 3
made it seem distinctly less special
