So there's this movie that just hit wide release today. Perhaps you've seen its trailers or commercials:

Also, I've seen the trailer for Tangled, it looks... okay?
but the rapunzel movie looks hella stupid

Cause that's what it looked like.
But, having seen the movie, I'd advise you to sweep all these aside. The trailers sit upon a throne of lies. This is actually a rather good classic-Disney-style fairytale adventure movie with excellent visuals, and is much less likely than expected to trigger any sort of "this is dumb" reaction that people seem to expect out of it. It's not a Shrekish film, and it's got either absolutely no pop-culture references, or none that weren't subtle enough to miss, and boasts some unusually complex characters.

Good things! It's the only Fresh-rated film that opens this week (they gave Burlesque, Love and Other Drugs, and Faster a 36%, 34%, and 52% respectively). And if it's in 3D, see it in 3D. There are some good-looking scenes in there.
If you want spoilerish things, here are scenes seen in trailers that are NOT in the movie:

Well, considering what Disney did for the teaser and trailers, their initial reactions are quite understandable. It's just that Disney initially tried to go for an ad campaign that isn't really representative of what the movie actually is. Just saying, if you thought it looked dumb at first glance, shelve what you thought you knew about it and give it a try anyway. I was still looking forward to seeing it and I found it even better than expected.
