So what all is there to do in Australia/New Zealand?
My family is traveling for the winter holidays and there are a few days in our itinerary that aren't taken up. Thought I'd turn to you guys for some hints/tips/suggestions.
I've got a free day in Sydney on the 22nd and in Queenstown on the 27th. What should I do?
Also, what restaurants should we be visting? Any good places for shopping? The travel guides have listed a bunch of ritzy places but I want to hear from you.

queenstown is super fucking expensive for everything
if they're in the area and can at all make the time, they should go to Fiordland or at least Te Anau, although one day in queenstown isn't really enough leeway to do that
There's a wonderful place in Sydney, BC, called King's Cross.
I hear there are ladies there who will be your friend for the night.
Just stay the hell away from the koala bear prostitutes.

"Disease is part of the natural history of the koala. There are 4 common koala diseases caused by the chlamydia organism: conjunctivitis which can cause blindness, pneumonia, urinary tract infections and reproductive tract infections, which can cause female infertility. The symptoms of chlamydia manifest as sore eyes, chest infections, and "wet bottom" or "dirty tail". Different strains of chlamydia bacteria are thought to cause these diseases. In 1995, scientists isolated two strains called chlamydia pecorum and chlamydia pneumoniae. "
Go watch some cricket! The Ashes are currently underway and England are all over the aussies at the moment!

I've recently discovered how great tea tree oil is and how it only comes from Australia. That stuff is awesome, it works against bacteria (like MRSA), critters (like lice), fungus and viral infections, and is as effective as Benzoyl Peroxide for acne.
My brother was here for a couple of hours after driving a car down for someone else and before catching a flight home. We spent most of the time playing backyard cricket outside while leaving the ashes on TV. The point here is that even if you enjoy cricket, watching test matches is only bearable with copious amounts of alcohol or other substances on hand.
Which of our fair (or not so fair, I'm looking at you Adelaide) cities do you call home?
If it's Adelaide I am very sorry.
actually it kind of is
in that i was born there and grew up there and went to uni there
but actually I will be mostly in the east and in melbourne this trip because my family no longer live in adelaide. I might pop over to see some friends but realistically I probably won't have time for that.

They use this as an excuse to drink wine all the time

Did we actually ever provide helpful information to B.C.? He's a decent enough dude, seems like a shame to leave him hanging...
<checks>
Hmm, nope.
B.C.! You still want some travel tips, or have you already left and stuff? Also, where are you going? I can give you a bunch of good place to go and shop or eat, but it's pointless me pointing out the excellent Asian fusion place on Blair St. if you're not coming to Wellington. I can also suggest some things in/around Queenstown, but I don't know if you're already doing them...
Tell me about your holiday so I don't pass along irrelevant information!

Anyway, I think a better question is - what can't you do in sydney on the 22nd? it might be a shorter list.
Visit opera house, harbour bridge.
Tonnes of good restaurants, apparently the Thai food here tops the Thai food in thailand...
Bushwalk in the blue mountains! Very pretty Australian forest, lots of great aussie scenery.
Also do a pub crawl at the end of the day and you're set.
