So hey, Valentine's Day is fast approaching. That means discount candy the day after and sitting at home drowning my loneliness in ben and jerry's and tawdry romantic comedy movies. i'm ok with that!
I'm planning on marathoning a bunch of romantic comedies, and have compiled a quite respectable list of good ones i plan on watching that weekend
Once
A sweet story about boy meets girl and they make beautiful music together. One of the sweetest films ever made, and an actual musical where the songs are performed organically. Just a delight to watch

film spoiler:
they don't even kiss! the end is bittersweet and uplifting at the same time, and gosh, so good. love that the leads turned out to be a real couple. though sadly, they broke up.
if you get a chance to see glen hansard and marketa irglova in concert, do so
Lars and the real girl
an offbeat story about a shy young man and the person able to bring him out of his shell: a real doll. It sounds like it would be awful, but ryan gosling gives a sympathetic, sweet performance and the real doll thing isn't really treated for laughs but more as the trigger to show his isolation and desire to connect and all that jazz. good stuff!

I love teen movies from the 80s, and this movie remains my favorite, even over say anything. cliche story, cheesy dialogue, and yet, i love it so. mary stuart masterson gives an amazing performance as the tomboy best friend nursing that unrequited crush. and that amazing soundtrack!

the quintessential 90s teen movie, with lovely performances by julia stiles and heath ledger. its based on some story made by shakespeare, whatevs. check out alex mack's prom dress! also a young joseph gordon showing he's more than a weirdo alien studying earth for conquest. love it!

movies i plan on avoiding: anything starring kate hudson, katherine heigl, matthew mcconaughey, or some infernal combination of the three. i may have bad tastes, but i do have standards, however low
so yeah dudes, whats your fave romcom? let us wallow in the power of movie love!
side topic: any v-day plans, even though it is the fakest of fake holidays?

i'm not exactly a connoisseur of the genre however
these are words that I know, but in the context they are written I am at a loss
However, this is one of my favourite films of any kind, ever.

Get the fuck out now! You are a terrible person who will die a horrible death, alone and cold. Colin Firth + Hugh Grant+ Bill Nighy + Alan Rickman = AWESOME
