Joke going over my head

I recently came across a clip on youtube from Animaniacs [vidurl="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xmAC9Qu908"]here[/vidurl] (potentially NSFW due to the main joke at the end, but that's not the one confusing me). Six seconds into the clip Wakko picks up a telephone and says "I'd like forty-two pizzas, six with no crusts" and smiles right at the camera for a second before the scene moves on.

It's clearly intended to be a joke, but I can't figure out what it's supposed to be. Various explanations I've come up with:

... that he ordered so many pizzas for so few people
... that he randomly wanted six without crusts (if by crust he means only the outer edge)
... that you can't have a pizza without a crust (if he's talking about the entire crust, so no bread)
... a "42" reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (seems pretty unlikely, plus it doesn't explain the pizzas with no crust)
... it doesn't make sense and they're trying to confuse people (in which case they've wildly succeeded)

It's entirely possible it was just a dumb joke and I'm totally overthinking it, but I found a few other people on google asking the same question with no answer so maybe this topic can help them too once it gets indexed.

my first reaction was that since 6 is a clean factor of 42, he's ordering for just seven people - six pizzas each, HAH! - wakko being picky enough to order his own without the crust. kind of like you might order "four pizzas, one without anchovies" only exponentially more.

the cheesey grin kind of puts too much focus on the passing joke though and makes it seem like it should have more of a punchline. i blame the director.

It's Wakko. He's pranking the pizza place.

Imagine they had a scene at the pizza place. They do a whole skit where they try to work out how to do it on a whiteboard.

The pizza place calls back: "We're not going to be able to get this there in under 30 minutes."

"Without crust" is the funny part. You can't have a pizza without the crust.

Was Wakko a character who ate a lot? I don't recall exactly, but if so, then the joke sort of makes sense to me:
He is ordering a pizza for Yakko and Dot, and ordering 41 for himself, six with no crusts. He eats a lot, and wants things that can't really be made, ha-HA!

Yeah, there's nothing NSFW about the Prince gag. At all.

It is a play on 'fingering' someone, namely Prince.
It's been called out several times as a classic thing that has gotten by censors.

I get the joke. It's still not remotely NSFW.

It's not remotely NSFW to have a play on words involving sticking your finger up Prince's asshole?

    Dust for prints

    I found Prince!

No, no, FINGER prints (hears Finger Prince)

    I don't think so.

From what I remember of the theme tune (quite a lot of it surprisingly):

.....dot is cute and yakko yaks,
    wakko packs away the snacks,
while Bill Clinton plays the sax.
    They're Animaniacs!

I get that he's ordering a lot of pizzas because he eats a lot, then the 6 with no crust are just to mess with the Pizza place. Not really funny but I can see how a kid would laugh at it.

I think the joke is on-par with something like ordering a cheeseburger, hold the cheese.

And yes, the number of pizzas is definitely just because he eats a lot.

    From the Animaniacs Wiki:
Wakko Warner, age 7,is the middle Warner sibling and the most absurd of the three. He is known to eat a lot, though he does have his limits (Meatballs or Consequences). His two prize possesions are his wooden mallet and his Gag Bag.

Alright, good enough for me. The no crust at all possibility didn't occur to me until I was halfway done with the OP (at first I thought it meant just the sides, kind of like how you can get a cheese filled crust but with removing it instead), but I was thinking there might be something else.

The cheesy grin is Wakko reveling in being a jerk by virtue of having given them an impossible order, not a misguided attempt to make the punchline funnier.
