I will say, Win Butler reminds me of Jack White in that, if appearance is any indication, his number two pick for a profession after 'musician' was probably 'serial killer.'

Neither the whole of truth nor the whole of good is revealed to any single observer, although each observer gains a partial superiority of insight from the peculiar position in which he stands. It is enough to ask of each of us that he should be faithful to his own opportunities and make the most of his own blessings, without presuming to regulate the rest of the vast field.

Dudes, I just listened to Funeral in celebration of a good band's kinda-sorta achievement, and hot diggity, it is still a super-beast of a record. Every song is clutch.

Also Radiohead is putting out a new record on Saturday. SATURDAY. You now have next year's winner for Best Rock... Alternative... record?

    I already told you.

Kanye is winning everything next year.

    Every.

    Thing.

by the time next year's awards season rolls around, people will have forgotten how much they wanted to slobber on kanye's dick for this album

hype backlash will result in it getting trashed, and then later people will find a happy medium and forget that pitchfork ever gave it a 10.0
who gives a fuck about pitchfork

well they did almost singlehandedly break the band that won album of the year yesterday

pitchfork is more relevant than it has ever been

pitchfork is relevant in that the one thing the entire internet can agree on is that you're only as cool as how loudly and often you despise them

arcade fire was a completely obscure band, then pitchfork gave their album funeral a 10.0 and within the week they were rebooking the tour they were on at the time to venues twice the size of what they were originally scheduled to play

arcade fire, vampire weekend, and the decemberists would probably not be debuting at #1 without pitchfork

    I don't think I've ever read billboard

anyway music reviews, like movie reviews and book reviews and video game reviews, are more valuable for the text of the review rather than the rating appended after the fact

E: oh, the songs are great and ready-made for the charts (my friend tells me she heard tightrope on the sound system of the virgin store in paris, actually)

but janelle's android character thing and her pompadour are too sincerely weird for mainstream audiences, I think

I've never understood the liking of Daft Punk.

Anytime I say I like techno everyone is like, OOOH LIKE DAFT PUNK.

No..I don't like Daft Punk. They play the same track over and over and over and over and over without much change to any form of melody over and over and over and over.
