I just can't understand how so many people think Arcade Fire is a complete unknown band when they had a #1 album.
there are some people out there who apparently can not hear of new bands unless the bands are constantly being shoved at them through the top 40 machine
that's the only explanation I can think of
The other odd thing is the assumption that an "unknown" band is somehow less deserving than a popular one. Quality and popularity do not necessarily go hand in hand!
which is why lady antebellum and justin beeper confuse me

how has anyone not heard of arcade fire
even I've heard of arcade fire
it's like the bottom of the culture heap down here
They play that Lady Antebellum song at the gym I go to. At the gym! That should be a crime! I need something with a tinge of anger to it! I don't need to feel corny!

yeah i mean this album debuted at #1 and they consistently sell out arenas/stadiums for multiple nights at a time, and they've been featured in a couple of ubiquitous commercials
they are not exactly the obscure band they once were
chances are just about any country music that is not johnny cash is godfuckingawful
sorry you're ignorant
i mean i could go on about how i hate most rap but to just say only one artist is valid and the rest suck would be terribly ignorant of me since i don't actively listen to it and occasionally hear something that is pleasing to my ear

Wilco is pretty okay most of the time but I can never figure out where country stops and folk starts. Or I guess where folk stops and country starts, because that's the direction I'm afraid of.

A lot of people equate rap with Country because of their racial identities
But really think rap is more like punk
It's easy to make and because of that there's a lot of awful product out there

I miss typed Keith
There is a lot of great punk and rap but also a large surplus of terrible because so many people are able to do it
Just like there's a lot more awful poetry than there is awful music
Dudes, I just listened to Funeral in celebration of a good band's kinda-sorta achievement, and hot diggity, it is still a super-beast of a record. Every song is clutch.
Also Radiohead is putting out a new record on Saturday. SATURDAY. You now have next year's winner for Best Rock... Alternative... record?

I think buster is right but it's not just limited to rap

There also a lot of great things about having an ease of entry into making something
A lot more people making it means there's bound to be new and exciting stuff in there all the time
You just have to sift through a lot of terrible to find it

whenever people would insist I listen to something I would do so with extreme trepidation
because so much of the music in the world is pretty awful
and my brother found almost all of it
