    Prides the toughest, right?

I don't even remember fighting one in DA:O

There's one that you can put back together in the deep roads and either fight or let go for some money.

Has anyone fought Hybris? I missed him.

    http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Hybris

Xebenditlikebeckham and Hybris are related to The Unbound in Origins. They may have had something to do with what's learned in the mysteries of kirkwall as well.

    Yeah I found Hybris

That cunt is forged from an adamantium/bullshit alloy

    Fucking Hybris

Gotta say though for both Hybris and the Tome quests you want to be taking Fenris because if he has all his lyrium talents he laughs off magic and that is a real help.

Having the Templar spec if you're a Warrior's helpful too. Being able to cancel any auras, having 50% magic resistance and an upgraded Holy Smite is real handy in a fight against demons.

Anyone else have a problem getting the last armor upgrade to drop for Aveline in Act 3?
I killed Jevan, the ex-guard captain, and nothing dropped. I see a bunch of complaints online with people calling it a glitch, but I wanted to see if other people who aren't trolls had the same issue.

It's supposed to be in the quest Favor and Fault on the body of the last guy. The completionist nerd aspect of my brain is starting to twitch.

Man, I think I've found my most difficult fight so far.
    The Evil Tome in Sundermount
It's like 4 abominations, a shitload of shades, 2 Rage Demons, one desire demon, a Revenant, and Arcane Horror - and the door locks behind you. That's just the mobs I've noticed so far, as I tend to be murdered fairly quickly. If I had somewhere to run to, it wouldn't be as big of a problem.

With my current party, this appears hopeless. Anyone else manage this on Nightmare?
When the tome is read, Xebenkeck appears along with 2 rage demons and several abominations (Nightmare). This is an incredibly tough fight, since once one of the demons or Xebenkeck (who heals them) goes down two more rage demons, a revenant, and several more abominations spawn in the room with the tome (Nightmare). Only by defeating all of them is the "Exorcist" achievement given, and some treasure appears in the room. Xebenkeck also drops the staff Voracity, a powerful fire staff that boosts attack and blood magic.

If Xebenkeck and the rage demons are defeated sufficiently far from the tome room (they can be kited back to the entrance of the cavern without issue) the party will drop out of combat. This exploit is highly recommended given the difficulty of the fight. Again, however, the remaining guards in the tome room must be defeated before the achievement is granted.

That's the final fight of that quest, which is extra-crispy bullshit. He's stuck on one of the ones before.

Another bullshit fight? The end of Act 2. Make sure your Hawke is built to fight solo or bring some Maker's Sighs. It's one on one versus something nasty. I am deciding what to do now.
YOu don't actually have to fight the Arishok, 1 on 1. You can just refuse to fight him and your entire party will fight all of the qunari, which was a lot less frustrating for me.
Yeah that felt like a cop-out though. I ended up doing it that way because there's no way Blood Mage Hawke can beat the Arishok

    2 things:

    1) i am excited to be playing this soon. i've heard many bad things and, naively i'm sure, i am hoping they are all false.

    2) stilts' signature moves perfectly to "losing my religion"

If you plan to use funny lit...I mean Merrill, and you plan to use her tree completely, it may not be a bad idea to focus on raising Constitution instead of Willpower. Oh, and handing her anything that has Blood Magic in it's stats-window.

    1) I'm only a little bit into Act 2, but I'm having a lot of fun so far. Overall, battle is a lot more fun than it was in DA:O.

    2) I love it when people tell me what my signature syncs up to. I feel like I should compile a list of music to use as signature links.

I respecced my mage again. Into a Primal/Force guy with cold spells and crushing prison. I bring along Fenris and/or Aveline, they stagger, I blow shit up. This is great fun :D Everyone should give Fist of the Maker a shot.

Also, why does Disorient have to be so much harder to get than the other two combo-makers? Pinning shot never seems to apply it even though Varric has the bonus talent that should give it. The only other way I can find is buried deep in the Sabotage tree.

It is by no means perfect, but DA2 is extremely good. It's just different than DA:O, which is neither good nor bad. They're like 2 children, and I love them both even though one is more a true RPG and the other hits things in the face with huge swords while a mage sets the thing's torso on fire instead of 30+ hours of basic auto attacks and cone of cold.

Going back to a few pages ago, the one thing I dislike about the current friend/rivalry system is that, as far as I can tell, gifts simply reinforce whichever direction they're already going in. Maybe it depends on dialog in some cases, but I know at least once I reloaded and tried every single option, and nope, negative points on every one. It bugs me because, if you do want someone on your good side but you started off on the wrong foot, it makes it impossible to bring them back up. I was trying to be nice to Fenris and Merril in my game but nope, do them a favor and they bitch me out.

Seems like there should always be at least one dialog option that lets you go the way you want.

I locked all my companions at friendship within act 2

I didn't even really pander that much, just had to do their quests and be a bit selective about who I took on certain quests

I wasn't very selective. I've pegged Anders and Isabella as friends, and I'm so close on Fenris' rivalry. Aveline has been more difficult than I thought, and Merril is completely weird. Sebastian I just don't care about because Varric is better in every way.

I did like how every single gift has the potential to be terribly offensive if they choose to interpret it that way.

It's interesting to see the same companions reaction to the same gift depending on if they're friendly or rival. Even choosing the exact same dialogs. On one character, Fenris was all 'Yes I will keep this sword, and laugh at the delicious irony. Thanks Hawke!' and on the other it was 'What? You think I want this thing honored by the bastards that did this to me? FUCK YOU Hawke!'

I don't know for sure, but I think they only way to complete that quest and get the achievement is to choose Destroy for every book.
