I never understood why they changed spirit door like that. pKaya doesn't really have enough going on to have needed the change to keep her from being crazy. In practice, the warp-wolf yo-yo seems to end up looking something like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAWFBbQa_84. If someone comes at you in just the right way, you've got this cool move to pull on them. Usually they make it a point to not come at you in just the right way.
Won my first 2 games with Mordikarr for the League, including a 50 point game that ended on the bottom of turn 2 when Kara Sloan's assassination feat failed to kill Mordikarr thanks to both his feat, and the Basilisk Krea(This made Mordikarr DEF19, ARM18 against shooting, which is how he managed to live). The overexposed Kara was killed by a single punch of the Bronzeback who beat back his way to her.
Basically, a 9" charge from the Gladiator's animus, then he forced his animus, made both initial fist attacks against Ol' Rowdy, then the Grab and Smash headbutt, then punched out Aiyana, punched out the Squire, then beat Kara with the dreaded Tiger Uppercut. Yes, he moved 14" in one activation.
Second game was against pDenny Cryx. The Gladiator made a perfectly aligned Slam against a slayer, and knocked it back a full 8", which killed 5 of his models, including a member of the Shadowjerk Combine. Void Spirits were murdering dudes all over the place. The Void Wind feat helped a ton against pDenny's feat, too. My opponent tried the pDenny stab you a gazillion times assassin in the end. He landed crippling grasp, but then whiffed on the first attack, got Poltergeisted away, and finally Bronzebacked.

So I tried out this list:
eFeora
Vanquisher
Reckoner
Redeemer, bonded
Vassal
Vassal
Knights Exemplar
Min. Choir
Min. Cleansers
Wracks
Heirophant
First game: I made the fatal mistake of not activating the Heirophant first, which would later cost me the game as I charged a DoF, Firestepped back and couldn't put up escort. I managed to burn down three or four solos, half the Daughters, who broke, and light his warcaster on fire on turn 1, dealing 7 damage. Leaving my caster somewhat exposed (I had a cloud from the cleansers, but the jacks really needed that movement boost), he managed to get an Avatar on me and take me down turn two. Still, seeing how much firepower this list had makes me hopeful.
Second game I would have lost against Cryx. I lit a bunch of shit on fire, and killed it, unfortunately. Most of his thralls had gone down, I had his caster on fire, but he had two crab jacks coming in for an assassination run that would have succeeded. We ran out of time, though.
Impressions: First, always go second, if possible. You will be able to hit with all of your ranged attacks pretty reliably, lighting them on fire and creating a serious headache with the cloud placement (you want it to screen eFeora, and then have jacks blocking the lanes around it).
The Reckoner. This is the first list where I didn't feel he was that useful. I thought he would be good at debuffing a big target for the Redeemer, but I found that most bigger targets will be directly hit by at least one Redeemer shot at rat 3, and you'll get some decent scatters. His replacement: The Templar. I think having a higher ARM, melee beat stick with the ability to push targets around will work. It also allows me to potentially drop a Vassal, which allows for more solo support/points elsewhere.
Knights Exemplar. These guys are useless in this list. With no way to screen them, they are just cannon fodder who are liable to get in the way of clear shots with the Cleansers. Their replacement: Bastions. This list is meant to be played super aggressively since you want to be able to burn down most infantry and light their caster on fire by turn two. This means having eFeora up really far. These guys will be a nice escort, and, since they a lot of wounds, I can light them on fire with a cleanser and not have to worry too much about them dying.
Is three Bastions really worth it? If I drop a Vassal and the Wracks, I could run a full unit, which would create a nice center brick to screen eFeora and some of my Cleansers.

Bastions definitely shine at max, but I'm not sure I'd want to drop Wracks. Extra focus is so good...

It was a pleasant surprise to find Mordikaar is a good matchup against Denegrha when I played him in out journeyman league. Between Banishing Ward and the DEF feat, he's a pretty had counter.

Once a proud Tharn king, Ghetorix was bested in combat and captured by Kromac for defying Morvahna the Autumnblade. As penance for his defiance, Morvahna forced the warpwolf elixir upon the defeated king, transforming him into one of the fiercest warpwolves the Circle has ever known.
Ghetorix’s thirst for blood and hunger for violence is legendary. His howled battle cry sets his foes’ hair on end, breaking spirits even before his axe and teeth bite into flesh. Ghetorix’s bloodlust is slaked only when he stands knee-deep in the entrails of the fallen, his jaws dripping with gore.
I understand the pose is dictated by the plastic kit, but even the face on Ghetorix looks bored. He's supposed to be a raging bloodthirsty killing machine. He doesn't even have a sneer!
But you, pig, are a lucky one. Tell us what we wish to know, and you may yet keep your bacon.

Yeah, I don't want to either, but depending on my opponent, I can afford to drop down to an effective 7 focus/turn with the Heirophant.
I may have to pick up Bastions for this list, despite dropping $200 in the last month. In the meantime, I could drop KE and a Vassal for KEE + UA.
You could replace the Vassal and KE with a min unit of Errants and UA. The AD will clear out space, and they still hit decently hard with Ignite.

That's what I'm going to do in the meantime. I don't think it will create the kind of brick I need, but between the multiple pies I'm dropping, the cleaners AOE cloud, and the Templar ready to beat face it'll be functional.
I had a simple list
:
p Denny
Deathripper x2
Slayer
Helldiver x2
Skarlock
min Banes
UA
min Biles
Tartarus
I'll tell you that I'm tired of Menoth's fire since half the people at the shop are playing them. But his list was a little scary since most of it was new to me. He shot a lot of Banes and they died, he shot a lot of Biles and they died.
He got close to kill Denny but she was far back. He hit BLT with fire, ran up transferred the fire to Denny and feated so it wouldn't go out.
My last turn I was going to give the Helldivers focus, feat, cast a Crippling Grasp or Parasite, have the Helldivers go in for the assassination.

Don't worry, warder, pretty soon it will just be me and Chris. I gotta figure out how to deal with those burrowing jacks.
If this is eFeora, the fires don't go out while inside her control range at any time. Her feat is separate from the extinguisher proof fire.

I got two more games in today. One was a 25 point game against Khador, which I dominated. The other was a 50 point (my first!) against this troll player who is really good. I wasn't really prepared to make a 50 point Thyra list, so I cobbled together what I had. I lost, but I do feel I'm getting better. I still need to work on positioning, especially in regards to my caster.
The real highlight of these games was getting to use Nicia. She's absolutely fucking brutal. Against Khador, I charged a mechanic, killed him, shot pButcher lighting him on fire (Thanks to the book), and then advanced into behind him out of the kill box area.
I basically did the same thing against the trolls except I did it to his Warlock. I forgot to put Silenceof Death up, but I rolled 10 straight damage.
Jumping from 35pts to 50 is really hard at first and takes a big mental shift in tactics, layout, pacing and everything else; glad you had a fun time with your first go at it, and it sounds like you represented pretty well too . And don't forget Silence of Death against Trolls! That ability was practically designed to make Troll players cry, use it early and often!

Yeah, If I had done that, I would have gone for the assassination run with Nicia. Instead, I bashed his caster, he transferred the damage to one of beasts, then used my second attack to kill a fen blade and sprinted back. behind my jack.
I didn't see the 14" threat range on his war beast, and only had a few Choir surrounding Thyra. I really need some larger based models for screening in a bunch of different lists. I think Bastions, whom I already need for an eFeora list anyway, would make a great escort for Thyra. If nothing else, they would prevent the trample attacks that people use to get in position.

What's this thread doing all the way back here?
I made two small purchases to round out some lists I've been working on, and for the upcoming Wrath tournament.
Blood of Martyrs. I got this guy cheap. I paid $10 for an unopened Vanquisher from the two-player battlebox, and $12 for the upgrade. Not bad more a model that normally costs $50 at retail.
Bastions. At this point I have a lot of troops (Errants, Exemplar, Daughters, Flameguard, Cleansers), but none of them are particularly high armor AND offensive. These guys will fill that role nicely.
I think I have about half the range now, and am done buying models for a while. My next purchase is going to be a legit carrying case as I'm sick of breaking models with my chessex shit.
I ordered more foam for my battlefoam bag. As it is I dont think I can carry a 50 point army in there.
I think once I do my taxes I may purchase more Jacks. I think I just need to lock myself away for a weekend and focus only on painting.
I need to free up space on my desk.

I've never been able to get a large amount of stuff painted in a short amount of time. It's all about chipping away slowly, a few times a week. I managed to get my Reckoner done in one weekend. Otherwise, I get 1-2 models done a week on average, though the Choir I've been painting are real easy to get done in a single day.
My To-Paint list:
Max Errants + UA
Daughters
Max Cleansers + UA
The Covenant
Reclaimer
Nicia
Templar
Redeemer
Blood of Martyrs
Bastions
Wracks
Heirophant
eFeora
Thyra
pSeverius
2 Choir
Yeah, my whole painting habit kinda got sidelined during the last few months of new job/moving, which would be fine if my model buying habit had slowed. I'm fairly certain I have close to if not more than 200 models in my queue at the moment which is... not great for motivation.

Paint in batches and reward yourself for completing them. I have nearly 600 models and 90% of them are painted! I like to reward painting large, boring units by painting a warcaster or an awesome solo in between.
There is no model but that model. There is no future, only now. There is no paintbrush, only your hand.
Practically speaking, I never put models on my painting table except the ones I'm actively working on.

I'm sure having models across mUltiple factions makes it seem more daunting. As Nemo said, reward yourself for painting larger groups of models with solos or sculpts you really enjoy. It really helps break up the monotony. After I finish the choir and pSeverius, I think I'm going to paint my KEE. If it takes nearly as long as my KE did, I'm looking at 4 hours/model. After that? Something easy like Nicia.

I can't even wrap my head around playing multiple factions at the same time, let alone painting them. I got the battlebox for Christmas 2010, painted it, then, in September 2011, I picked up the Choir, TFG + UA, KE, pSeverius, two Vassals, and a Reckoner, all of which are painted except 2 Choir models and Severius.
Now that I'm actually figuring out how this game works I've invested a lot more into it, but I want to have my force fully painted by the year's end before adding anything really big to it, or starting a second faction.

Models on my table right now:
Siege
Sylys Wyshnalyrr

Models that I'll buy before I finish painting my others:
2x Minuteman
Avenger.
One day I'll have the time and money to pick up a unit of the new trenchers and a unit of forgeguard.

I'm in the middle of a Khador repaint (218 models) and it's all gonna be 5th Border Legion stuff (Primarily white). Right now I'm working on Doom Reaver unit one of three.
Eek, paint lists! As a hoarder of models and a lazy painter, mine's pretty painful. I went on a buying spree before Xmas and then lost interest in painting anything. Some of them are half painted, or undercoated, but most are bare metal. What I found to be the best motivational tool was to pick an army list (or variations of) for one faction and ensure that I got all of that painted up for games. Then when I want to add stuff, I paint those up. I have four factions so it's slow going, but I'll get there.
I cheat like hell with dipping but I'm pretty pleased with the quality, it's only for tabletop.
So I did this last year, and since the auction starts tomorrow, I figure I might as well note it more directly in case no one has checked out the sticky.
I'm auctioning off a 50 pt army of your faction choice for the kids (But all the kids get is money, you get the heap of metal and plastic minis to love and cherish!). You know you want more models to paint, or want to give your friends the same guilt you feel when you don't have a fully painted army. http://solidsaints.com/start-a-warmahordes-army/?auction_id=46

That's a another good strategy, to paint a list up. I tend to skip around from whatever I feel like doing. If I paint a large, detail intensive unit, I like to do a jack next or a solo so I don't burn out. Nothing kills your will to paint more than working on blocks of infantry exclusively.
I have a 3-day weekend. If I can knock off the choir and pSeverius, I'll be happy. Then begins the projected 50-hours I'll need to invest to finish the Errants.
At some point, I'm going to begin basing my units.

Now that my divorce is finalizing, I can finally get back in to Warmachine. When I walked away for a couple of months, I had a halfway decent Cygnar setup up and going. Has the meta changed much for Cygnar in the last, ohhhh, six months? Will my eCaine + ATGM + Black 13th based army still play decently well?
