So some sort of secret scene was filmed with the whole cast of Avengers, the night of the premiere. And if I remember right, something similair was done with the Nick Fury scene at the end of Iron Man Uno. I wonder if they're setting something big up, spoiler wise, to set up Round 2 of the Marvel films?

Something involving Red Skull is probably a safe bet for the post-credits scene.

Well. At least the Red Skull is a guy with a skull for a head. Weaving is a great actor, but his performance in Captain America wasn't exactly special enough that they couldn't replace him if they needed to.

Sin City 2 has just been officially announced
ROBERT RODRIGUEZ AND FRANK MILLER TO BEGIN PRODUCTION ON THEIR MUCH ANTICIPATED SEQUEL TO 2005‘S SIN CITY ENTITLED “FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR”

Robert Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions and Alexander Rodnyansky’s AR Films partner with Dimension Films on historic sequel

AUSTIN, TX (12 April 2012) — Filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, along with producer Alexander Rodnyansky, have announced that production will commence on the highly anticipated sequel to 2005’s Sin City, entitled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. The film will be produced by AR Films and Quick Draw Productions, financed through AR Films U.S and released domestically by Dimension Films.

“The first question I am always asked is “When will you make another Sin City? ,” said Rodriquez. “I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait.”

Sin City creator, screenwriter and co-director Frank Miller said, “The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.“

The script and details of the film’s story have been kept tightly under wraps. Casting will begin next week, with many of the original cast expected to return. The film, a Quick Draw Production, will be produced by Rodriguez and producing partners Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic; and by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergei Bespalov and Stephen L’Hereux. Miller, The Weinstein Company’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Miramax’s Adam Fields will act as executive producers. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed). The film is expected to begin production this summer at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Alexander Rodnyansky said, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Robert Rodriguez and Quick Draw Productions. It is a rare opportunity to produce and finance a film with the high profile and enormous fan base of the Sin City franchise. AR FIlms will be managing worldwide sales of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, as well as Robert’s Machete Kills at the Cannes Film Festival in May.”

The original Sin City was brought to the screen by Rodriguez and Miller and released by Dimension in 2005, and proved to be a landmark step forward in filmmaking, breaking ground with immersive green screen to create its iconic stylish look. The first film, released on April 1, 2005, grossed over $160 million (US) worldwide and is a consistently strong home video and television performer.

“Audiences have been clamoring for Sin City 2 with Robert and Frank for a long time and trust me, it will be worth the wait,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. “This will be my 11th collaboration with Robert in 16 years and he’s become a great friend. I look forward to continuing our long lasting relationship and partnering on more projects in the future.”

I don't know...I wonder if too much time has passed for people to really be excited. Plus I didn't really care for the Dame to Kill storyline.
I do. I honestly don't get how a fan of comic books can't be excited about this.

Well, that was specifically directed at Ultimates. I don't want to see this because I think Joss Whedon is awful, and the last movie I saw in a theater was TDK.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but why do you think Whedon is awful?

Can of worms dude. As much as I like discussion, I find it's better to leave the Whedon debate alone.

As for sin city 2, I would have been more excited before miller went off the deep end. Still, dame to kill for is the one with Marv and... Uh whatever Clive Owens character's name was, teaming up, right? Could be interesting

I like the action scenes, and the characters/Spidey are growing on me, but damn do I hate that they use the Ultimate Spider-Man title. It just immediately set expectations for comic book fans that the series doesn't seem to want to try to meet.

They're more focused on selling Spider-Bike toys to the six year old set.

And seriously, fuck that bike. The latest episode shows him racing it across subway tunnels, being chased by an octupus like machine, and it just seems like A) he could probably get farther, dodge easier via his webs, and b)HE'S FUCKING CALL SPIDER-MAN NOT BIKE-MAN.

    Ahem. Sorry.

He wasn't bad or anything, and although they nailed the look for the Red Skull, I have to put him behind Obediah Stane in terms of effective villains in Marvel movies so far.

    1. Loki
    2. Hammer
    3. Venko
    4. Obediah Stane
    5. The Red Skull

Although that's not really Weaving's fault, he just didn't get to do enough with the character before the story was over.

Don't forget the Spidey villains. Though I think only Doc Ock has a chance at the top 5.

"The power of the sun in the palm of my hands."

So anyone want to guess who the surprise cameo is going to be in Avengers?
I think the top 3 possibilites are (in my own ordering):

    1. Spider-man
    2. Wolverine
    3. Ant-Man (played by Nathan Fillon)

There is literally 0 chance of Spider-Man or Wolverine being in the film

and Nathan Fillion is too old and flabby too play Ant-Man at this point.

    Man I love Fillion

but the dude is in his 40s at this point and kinda flabby and isn't really the Ant-Man type anyways

Downey gets away with being a middle aged superhero because he either wears normal clothes or is in a big metal suit.

Well except for that forging scene in Iron Man.

I'm just thinking how the studio would brainstorm it. In terms of expanding on the Universe, you already have the tough, suave guys in the big roles, you add in someone who looks more out of place who is basically set up to be the comic relief. It would also work in having this tall skinny guy's powers be to shrink to an ant.

I think Sharlto Copely would be a great Ant-Man, don't know if he would even be in the running.

  • Options
    BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
    Oh man

Sharlto Copely would be a fantastic Ant-Man

and he is small and kinda weird so he would stand out amongst the big buff suave dudes

    CYpGAPn.png

and I honestly think if he expressed interest in it he would have a shot

I mean Downey was a has-been when he was cast in Iron Man, Evans had a stream of supporting roles and Hemsworth was Kirk's dad for 10 minutes.

Marvel isn't afraid to cast little known dudes.

I thought Hemsworth also had Red Dawn filmed at the time, and that's how he got attention.

I said Parson only half-serious, while also looking at the decision with their $$$ glasses, because Marvel could snag him for a decent price now while his popularity is still going up, and he hasn't really cashed in on it outside of the Big Bang Theory. The guy is pretty much typecast at this point, at least this isn't a completely crazy guy he would be playing and Marvel movies would be a nice gig to have.

As mentioned before, the Spider-Man film rights belong to Sony so he and his villians don't really count here. (Also, and this is just my opinon, but I always felt that Doc Ock was the only dull spot on an otherwise great movie. He wasn't bad, but the character was just.. sorta.. there. I never felt like his motivation was ever that great.)

And yeah, Nathan Fillion is at his best when he's snarky, and Pym isn't exactly known for his snark. I think the casting of Pym will need to be surprise like Hemsworth and Evans was.

Also, according to Whedon awhile back re: cameos
There are no cameos from other heroes in the Avengers
