go up to a black person you don't know and call him or her chocolate skin
I am sure it will go splendidly
The only times I've seen black women described in that way it has been 'Mocha' and its been the women describing themselves. *shrug* Anecdotal, but I've never heard chocolate used as a pejorative.

"Chocolate" is being reclaimed by the African community
from now on we have to refer to those goods as "cocoa-based confectionery"
4G? What the hell, cell phone companies. I had already declared my undying love for 3G. I only have so much undying love. After that comes dying love, and that is a rather unflattering form of devotion.
If it was conversationally appropriate to bring up the precise shade of someone's skin (for example if that is the topic of discussion) I don't think saying that someone had chocolate skin would be offensive, if it was an apt description of their shade of skin.
It would be weird to just bring it up randomly because it would be weird to randomly bring up the precise shade of someone's skin. To me its no different than discussing if that pink shirt compliments someone's olive skin or not, if that's what the conversation is about.

Eddy? Where do you live that "chocolate skin" is taken as a super offensive racial slur and not just a really really weird thing for someone to say?
'Cause I don't see that resulting in omgphysicalviolence. I imagine it would result in something more along the lines of either confusion or mockery in the form of uncontrolable derisive laughter.

still though, I encourage you to call a black person chocolate skin
If I were writing a book and I described a character with "chocolate skin" it would be about as offensive as describing a character with "alabaster skin".
I don't know, I just can't get outraged over chocolate.

A-Are you trying to lick the person as you do it?
I've been called chocolate to my face by another Black person. While I was walking with my White boyfriend ("Chocolate and Vanilla!" is what he said).
Didn't really phase me much. I've been called worse to my face.
I can see why some Black people would be offended, but chocolate isn't something that automatically comes to my mind when I think of racist terms to be hurled at me.

Is it not normal to lick people now
because that may explain a few lawsuits I have been dealing with

i don't think the ad is saying anything about chocolate skin
it seems to be calling her a diva
i don't know if that's the case
i haven't met her
the diva thing is weirder to me than comparing her to a chocolate, which is also still weird, but the chocolate part is the part she's apparently mad about, which is clearly stated in the article thing

Did you brush your teeth, floss and use Listerine before the licking?

well, white straight men are pretty good at telling when other people should be offended
so I'll leave it up to yall
after all, you did hear a black person say it once, also you wouldn't be offended if someone called you whitey
I'm not a straight white guy though. I'm saying for me, as Black and Puerto Rican female, being called "Chocolate" is way low on my list of things to be offended about. It's damned odd, for sure. I can see why some would say its offensive, but for me this is small on the scale of things I have to deal with day in and day out when dealing with others.

i mean, it's a little tacky i guess, but i don't think i'd get too het about it.
