I am popping in just to say that I really really like this show, having just started watching about a month ago. I forced myself to stop to let my brother catch up but oh my this is so good. Dropping out od the thread to avoid anymore spiolers th
I love Twin Peaks and how it's still culturally significant. On one hand I wish there was more than the two seasons, but at the same time it really went out on a high note instead of so many other shows.

The closest I've been to seeing Twin Peaks was the Dual Spires episode of Psych

Oh yeah, I found this picture of a young Richard Beymer at work recently:

I totally screwed up when I first saw the ads for the show here. They really promoted it as.. well, not anything as interesting as it really was, so as to not frighten off the conservative television audiences we had at the time. Hell, we only got a non-state TV channel in 1989. By the time I found out it was a subversive challenging damn-fine-cup-of-coffee show, I had already missed my chance to start at the beginning, in those VHS pre-DVD what-the-hell-is-the-internet-anyway days.
If I had actually known how good it was going to be when I first saw the body-wrapped-in-plastic billboards... well, I would have done things differently. As it is, I've only ever managed to catch a handful of shows, piecemeal and out of order. I should rectify that, but I rarely manage to sit down and just watch TV for much period of time anymore. Another thing I should rectify.
if you're going into it expecting loose ends of the series to be tied up you're going to be disappointed, but it's got a ton of scenes that rival anything from the show
James is just brutally bad. It's amazing that a show with so many great characters could strike out so hard on James. I want to make a custom edit of Twin Peaks that removes every scene with James except
I mean that is up there for weirdest scene in the series. So random. The "That was really good, let's try it again" at the beginning is what really makes it. They're practicing this repeatedly? What?

It would have been hard to get to all the characters I wanted to put in the OP without giving stuff away. I really wanted people who haven't seen the show to start watching it and then come back in here and talk about the WTF moments.

The show is absolutely amazing.
Also: The house used for the external shots of the Palmers' home is for sale.

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
I am spending the week watching over the camp where this cheezy B horror movie was filmed while the caretakers are on vacation.
Wouldn't live there if it was gifted to me

Indeed.

It intrigues me, but I hope it doesn't get to convoluted with the plot.
I got five episodes into The Wire without it really grabbing me, though, so maybe I can make room for this now
No seriously, I love this show so far and it's all Mrs. Rankenphile's fault
twin peaks is perfection
and everyone needs to watch the movie
you just have to
where's the good dale
yes
turn away from one of the greatest television series of all time
good job
Granted, I haven't had the opportunity to watch The Wire, but damn I can quote you every episode of this show and love every bit of it.

sure, there are shows I like more
but twin peaks proved.to a young tlb that tv could be so dang good
even better than movies at times
Only so they can share the distaste. The movie left much to be desired.
Edit: But it does have David Bowie in it.

better than the one for the tv show, i think
The movie doesn't really offer anything that wasn't already addressed in the TV show. It's just a big rehash about the premise for the show.
this is a good thing
mmm, yeah hot stuff!
I hear lots of people compare it to Twin Peaks.
I guess I might love Twin Peaks?
That's pretty disingenuous, Dru. You're intentionally overlooking every high school girl in the show.

Still love that aaargh at the end of it though hah

In my opinion this show was Lost before Lost...
