Burn Notice Season Five - In which Michael Westen conquers the Earth
All hail Michael Westen, consummate badass, Emperor of the World. I love this show, but I have no idea where it is going now. I'll be tuning in on Thursday night to see though. There was a movie about Sam Axe, it was good. The series might be going to the big screen at some point too, but that is unconfirmed.

I'm curious what changes they are going to make.

Is this still on at the same time as futurama? I watch TV one night a week, one season a year, and both shows I like are on at the same time. What gives?

Biggest question? Has Gabrielle Anwar eaten this year.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Hell to the yeah, motherfuckers.
Silence, Burn Notice is at 9 and Futurama is at 10, so you're in luck unless you want to check out Suits.
Oh, I've been excited about tonight since USA first starting running promos for the new season.
I'm pretty confident that there won't be any serious changes to the "season-long spy plot gets advanced 5 minutes at a time while the rest of the episode involves solving the problem of the week" format, but I'm curious to see what that season-long plot turns out to be. I'm hoping it's more "get Jesse unburned" than "find some excuse to burn Michael again".
Burn Notice and Louie the same night, too, so it's the entire spectrum of male competence in one evening.
Stopped watching when they introduced Jesse. I can't stand that character. Or maybe it's the actor. Either way it really ruined my enjoyment of the show.

so you are gonna miss the entire episode because jessie was in it for 15 seconds?
Does anyone else feel like the show has lost its way a little? I can't put my finger on it exactly but the last two seasons don't feel as compelling to me as the first two. Maybe I'm getting tired of the whole thing where they go, "OK this is the guy that did it! If I get him I'm back in!" and then it turns out that the dude is a pawn or a front and the cycle continues. I liked tonight's episode but I don't see where it can lead- either they do the same dance they've been doing, or Mike gets back in and the show ends. Since the show has already been picked up for a 6th season I guess we'll get door number 1. I'll keep watching because I enjoy the characters, but I hope they find a good way to tie this all off.

I think that episode was a big step up from the last two seasons.

I kind of feel like its been painted on the wall. Jesse has decided he can't go back to government work.
This season will be about Michael realising he doesn't want to get back in, maybe with a late series cliffhanger where he finally gets the Burn Notice lifted, before decided to pass on it, keep having endless hijinks with Sam and Fiona and living happily ever after.
Is it just me or was the gap between S4 and S5 longer than the average? It's seemed like a lifetime.
Yea normally the season finales aren't until March for BN, but that's also usually with a long gap between episodes. Season 3 started in June, showed episodes until the beginning of August and then there was a break until January. Season 4 started in June, showed new episodes through all of August, then only took a break for September - first half of November to wrap things up in December. So long waits between seasons now, but shorter wait to see all of the current season.

I'm feeling exactly the opposite: I found the episode a little lacking because I felt the Dynamic had taken a bit of a retrograde by taking Jesse out of the action

Same here. Didn't realize there was so much Jesse hate out there, I always thought he was a great addition.
The premiere episode seemed lackluster compared to the final three eps of the last season. Last season has been my favorite by far and loved the finale and the eps that led to it.
I hope that this episode was just an intro to what is new and Michael only does CIA stuff every few episodes to advance the big plot while the others are buisiness as usual.

I kind of hope that they find that the remains of the organization are based out of the south, so the CIA keeps Weston's team off the books to do domestic operations.
This episode also seemed a bit off to me. It was fun, but I'm not sure where this leads. There was no next episode preview, even. It just went straight to Suits. Unless I missed it somewhere.
It felt to me like perhaps originally it was going to be a 2-episode block, and then the network decided to break it up to premiere Suits.
Usually the season premieres of Burn Notice are my least favorite episodes, but I really really liked this one. Am even more excited for the new season!

Imagine my surprise to discover that it didn't.
I am so glad it's back.
Also, to quit watching a show because of a secondary character like Jesse.. well, did you even LIKE the show?
