I'm glad to see that the Minibosses are back and VGO is making their way to the west coast. Plus there's somebody new, which is always awesome! And I'm always happy to see the other 4, but what do you guys think about it?
I also lamented the fact that the Protomen wouldn't be there, but they replied to my tweet and told me that they'd be at Jamspace for the weekend, and will also have a concert half a mile away one of the nights. https://twitter.com/#!/Protomen/status/86321589720850433
I'm majorly disappointed about the lack of Anamanaguchi, though. Also, I'm not really a fan of Supercommuter or Metroid Metal, so I'm guessing I'll only be hitting up the JoCo night.

Oh wow, thanks for the Twitter link, that one slipped past me. Hopefully their show doesn't take place during the PAX concerts, I really want to go see them.
I regret not going to last year's Friday concert. I regret it so hard. All of the acts I wanted to see played that night, with none of the ones I didn't like. Judging from this year's lineup, I won't have that opportunity again.
No Protomen makes me the saddest I've been in a long, long time. Even if they DO play a show elsewhere, it's a travesty that they aren't on the main stage at PAX. I'm very, very, very, very disappointed. I will see them wherever they go, but I'm disappointed.

Guess who's skipping a concert night to go see The Protomen?

I'm not sad to see Anamanaguchi gone. Their studio albums are great but in person they're just...annoying. Having said all that, if Supercommuter is playing the night The Protomen aren't playing, then I'm totes hitting that up. Wheelie's mic skills are not to be fucked with.

Oh man, Supercommuter. I wouldn't mind seeing them, but, of course, that depends on which night they play. The Protomen play Friday night, so I'm pulling for Saturday.
A full, proper Protomen concert trumps a PAX concert setlist anyway.

Murphey apparently mentioned it being at El Corazon, which is fairly close, but it's kinda disappointing. The place is tiny and dark. But, it's The Protomen, so it's worth it.

I think I saw Freezpop there previously, it wasn't a bad venue as I recall.
Edit: Oh dear, I shouldn't have looked at their page. Powerman 5000 is playing Saturday night. Might end up with no official concerts for us this year. :P
Hopefully VGO doesn't go as long as they did at east, I felt like they went way over and as a result, JoCo and Paul and Storm had to rush.

Freezepop was there a while back, some time late last year, I saw them there too. It was a good show, I really hope they make their way back here some time this year again.
The Video Game orchestra is appealing but I can never draw myself away from boardgames long enough to wait in line and see a concert. Especially with no wristbands this year the wait will be insane.

Insane is putting it mildly, the lines at East this year started around 4pm. The concerts didn't start until around like 9:30. Unless the Enforcers turn people back that try lining up that early (which I hope to god they can do) then it will most definitely happen again. I don't think they should allow people to form any kind of line until no more than two hours prior to the concert starting, but I have a feeling that won't happen.

Even at last year's Prime, I left for the Hall at around 5:30ish and it was starting to get into the tiny hallway area up the stairs when I got there--and that was with the wristbands. I am sure it will be worse for the no-wristband thing. Don't want it to be, but it might.

I don't think I'm overstepping my bounds by saying this.
I've been in contact with the Protomen for the last couple of weeks about this. The details I know is that it will be at El Corazone on Friday night.
How do I know this you ask? Because...

They don't want to take away from the PAX crowd goers, but they do want to have a big show, so would anyone around the Seattle area be willing to help me promote it when the time comes?
would love to check out P&S in concert...only ever seen videos on youtube.

Sigh. The things I do for the long-distance-crazy-fan-girl in me. I was going to follow Mr. Nero anywho--since he gave hints about the opening thing a couple of weeks ago on the Twittars--so, for me, Jonny is the prize and Protomen are the bonus.
BUT! I've been wanting to see P&S anywho. So, all concerts will be seen (or try my best to do so)

It was started for East this year, and declared that wristbands are gone forever.

Personally I've seen the Protomen and maybe it was the venue but I did not enjoy it. It was cool music but to me they just overdo it. VGO is awesome though and I'm very glad that they are going to make it to Prime. I talked with their conductor at East and he said it was a possibility. Glad it worked out for them.

Awesome news Jonny! Too bad the show couldn't be Sunday night or something, but I have no doubt that you guys will still fill up the venue anyway. We're trying to work something out to have a couple people film the show, I'll let ya know how that turns out.
Now comes the wait for the unofficial/semi-official JamSpace concert schedules. I was so lucky to catch a couple last Prime, and totally missed out at East.
Am I alone in saying that I wish Anamanaguchi was here this year? Either Way i'm psyched that VGO will be here! But i'm not going to wait in line from 4 untill 9 just for the concerts. Yea they are cool but that would kill a lot of time doing other stuff. I wait in enough damn lines at PAX :P

We may be the only two on here that will admit openly that we're sad. No matter, the line-up sounds pretty rad all in all.
Looks like there are 4 of us. Plus, if you watch the Metroid Metal performance from East, you will see Danimal wore an Ananamaguchi shirt in solidarity.
So I can get my drink on at the Johnny Nero and Protoman show which hopefully doesn't overlap with the PAX concerts since the only band I am not super excited about is The Minibosses.

The shows most-likely will overlap, El Corazon (and most other small venue's like that) don't do early shows, or at least not that I've ever seen.
I was pumped to see The Protomen last year. Then when I saw them, I was disappoint. Nothing but noise. For a band that has a lot of songs that depend on lyrics, I couldn't hear anything. I for one am not saddened at their absence.
I stand with a few others in saying I will miss Anamanaguchi and The One Ups. I love that the Minibosses are back. They got shafted when everyone left after Protomen last year. I hope more people come out to see them play.
As for VGO coming West, hell effing yes. Can not wait for that. Their show at East was a tad long, but worth it. I have seen Paul and Storm and JoCo enough to not be miffed about a short setlist.
I will definitely have to check out Supercommuter though.

Anamanaguchi never did much for me, their songs are too same-y. I can't get excited over the Minibosses either, since most of their songs are just metal covers (I'll admit there is some hypocrisy, since VGO always leads to me needing a change of pants). I'll listen to it in my car, but I won't go go to a concert for it. What really makes The Protomen for me is the fact that their songs are incredibly powerful in their own right, they're not just made by what the reference material is. That, and both times I saw them at PAX East, I found the show to be fantastic. They put on an incredible stage show, and they've got fantastic stage presence. I can understand the management wanting to switch up musicians, but I can pretty much promise I'd ditch the PAX concert for The Protomen nearby.
I know saturday night wasn't that bad - space wise. since the grand ballroom at the bcec wasn't a theatre, but just a huge room, my friends and i got in line around 8, and got in. we sat in the back, and the view was great.
but for prime, since benaroya is going to be main theatre, (right?) lining up will be important because there will be seats!

They haven't confirmed what the main theater for Prime is yet, but certain people let it slip that it will be at the Paramount, where the seats are removable.
Hey there fellow Paxers! I am covering Pax Prime 2011 for a media outlet this year & playing gigs in the Seattle area. ?- How would I be able to get on the 'Jamspace' lineup? Any leads would be helpful.
