So this was a pleasant surprise!

It turns out that there's been a bit of a "hiccup" with Xbox 360 owners who are Xbox Rewards members. Typically you only get a handful of points returned to you for purchases and promos, but apparently the most recent account crediting for July has been a little overzealous...

This seems to have happened to random Xbox Rewards participants who were owed a minimum of 100 points as of 7/31/11.

I just checked my account and I got a ton of free points, so go see if you got something! Beneficial glitch that will get some IT intern fired? Reactionary goodwill strike on MS's part to counter Nintendo's Ambassador program? Who cares!

Somehow I doubt this will happen with me if I do the "spend 1600 on add-ons get 160 points" now.

Fuck it. Got Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet with it. Feels safer spent and if they do decide to go charging then it was something I was going to buy sooner or later anyway.

Like I feel bad for spending these, since I didn't really earn them, especially in the face of the UK riots and how much that shit pissed me off.

But after working out I just spent way over £300 on moonbucks in just the last 12 months alone...

So yeah ... They caught on, and most people's point values were reset to their originals. :P If you bought anything, I think you can keep it okay, but I'm back to my original total.

MS did pick up the tab for my Bon Jovi DLC superpack, though!
