Apparently my nephew's been going to a charter school in another part of the city- a very good school, from what I gather. And now she's been caught for having given a false address so he could attend. So he's been put in his properly zoned school this year.
My sister is cursing up a storm!
So she cheated the system and got caught? She better hope they don't come after her for that, I swear I read a story where the city sued and won against a lady for doing that exact thing.
Yeah I don't think she realizes she can legit get in trouble for this.
Last year, King County Exectuive Dow Constantine moved to replace the contractor on the last of four tunnels after a tunnel-boring machine became stucj underground.

Confession time: I liked Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball when I was a kid. We tried for hours and hours to unlock the nudie mode, then we found out nudie mode didn't actually exist!
How old were you and why weren't you aware that you could see naked women within 5 minutes of trying thanks to The Internet?
"That's like asking a man who's just gone fishing: "why didn't you just buy a fish at the supermarket?"
Well, I guess that's an apt metaphor. It wasn't so much getting to see nude women as it was playing volleyball for 4 hours with the vague promise of nude women?
Yes although the work mostly involved clicking through menus as quickly as possible, not so much playing volleyball. We probably should not have been as excited as we were.

Reminds me of a coworker who lamented when she tried to file for welfare as a single mother despite living with the father of her child and then the boyfriend got a bill from the state for her services. WOOPS!

I can appreciate that that sucks but I never understood getting super mad at getting caught breaking the rules
I used to have a copphobia. Well. I still kind of do. I'm working on it. I discovered a really troubling fact about myself: I totally dehumanized cops and just saw a uniform. That was not a pleasant thing to realize I was doing.

Wait what's wrong with not wanting to constantly smell a bad stench
There is no bad stench. They've just decided that there will be one, so called to complain as soon as they started testing out the facility. They may even believe they actually smell something, even though the facility doesn't have any actual wastewater in it.
There was this one time at my old office when we had to have it fumigated; we got them to come in on a Friday after work, and fumigate using special odor-free, non-allergen stuff. Monday rolls around, and my boss tells me that she's had six complaints about people not being able to deal with the smell, and asks me if I can smell anything. I tell her no, that whatever they used must be really subtle. She then informs me that they had to reschedule, and hadn't actually sprayed anything.
What mystifies me most about those "illegals get" repost things is that they don't. Illegal immigrants don't get any of those benefits, other than maybe education for their kids.

God I love the perception being reality for some people.

So who else is waiting for the inevitable "Man Tased to Death By Police After Complaining of Death Threat on Voicemail"
Don't humor thanatos, he's already got irrational white boy fear about police.
yeah but King County police are the same jagoffs heroes who shot a deaf guy for failing to drop a carving knife while 50 feet away from them
A closed carving knife.
But he was brown, so I should be okay.

I still have the distrust of cops I developed from being a partying teenager
but I find that actually dealing with them I'm quite good at. probably because I am mostly a pussy and can make it hard to believe I have done anything wrong.

I love me some cops.
The only time I've had tense, uncomfortable encounters with cops is when I was totally breaking all the laws.
But then, my brother is indirectly involved in law enforcement, so I do occasionally hang out with cops.
They're all like, really people and junk.
Also @Captain Carrot , you need the rest of the quote for context, me thinks:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Officer, do you see these brown eyes? These big puddles of chocolate and warmth? Do you think I could last half a second in prison? That's not my weed.

And those that are working are generally paying payroll tax, which they won't ever be able to claim in the form of Social Security or Medicare. To say nothing of sales tax and property tax (since they usually rent, and their landlord pays property tax).
Most cops are humanity's rejects that enjoy the power trip.
However, there are some that are not. The job itself attracts the bottom of the barrel unfortunately. I understand Than's hatred of them, there's logic behind it. Our system of laws sort of plays into that irrationality unfortunately. I read on reddit that there was a dudette who got dipped out the fucking ass because she sassed the cop on the ticket she was getting and the cop wrote it on his report, then the DA added additional fines for being "mean spirited to the cop" and she "ought to pay more than normal people."
What the fuck law system, way to be assholes.

Man.
I showed my wife the "Don't Tase me Bro" video. Even though the whole thing was a scam, the fact that everyone just watched, especially John Kerry (who should be ashamed), I'm even more disappointed that someone didn't get up and throw a chair across the room.
But I guess maybe if I were there and saw what happened prior to the video recording I may have been "wait a second. Ain't throwin no chair this is a setup."

it would only take a tiny fraction of cops being assholes to give them a bad rep overall
and it's way more than a tiny fraction, and some of them are much worse than just being assholes
The dude claims that a 250,000 home is a lot or something.
depends on the part of the country
in SF it's a refrigerator box
in Houston or Vegas it's a mansion
If you figure two earners taking home, maybe, $50,000 each a year, that is a pretty affordable house. And I'd say two government workers are probably easily making that much a year, maybe less. Sounds like smart financial planning to get there, and fat dude on face book is jealous that the guy can be pretty opinionated bigot while sitting in his mansion.

I can definitely still taste a difference (when it comes to diet soda). The closest for me so far are the fruity sodas- orange, or citrusy like Sprite or whatever.

I wouldn't have anywhere near as much of a problem with them as I do if they would actually hold each other responsible when they fuck up, instead of holding the line for their "brothers," no matter what they do.

Diet Dr Pepper came pretty close to dr. pepper but there were still differences.

@Organichu oh you can taste the bitter/metallic aftertaste with artificial sweeteners too? Sucks. I'd rather risk diabetes than dry heaving while drinking a soda.
