Doesn't seem to be much like Ultimate; if anything it just seems to be an alternate reality story. Not really a brand, just one book.

With Ultimate you still had familiar characters just in different circumstances. Tony Stark was still Iron Man for example.

With E-2 the only ones that are still the same seem to be the Trinity.

Isn't that the ENTIRE DCU right now?

Partially. Green Lantern & Batman continuity is mostly intact from the previous universe.

Far from dark and brooding, but magic with a capital "M", Gary and I are out to reintroduce Billy Batson and his journey to becoming a hero.

    From Geoff Johns twitter.
There's a different look at the Wizard's search in Chapter 1, Billy's new home in Chapter 2 and a strange twist on Dr. Sivana in Chapter 3.

The Earth-2 OGN's aren't in a connected Earth-2 universe as far as we know, it is just a brand.

but yeah that is kind of dumb

Those are called Earth One, dudes

This is puzzling. They're confusing potential readers by releasing an image that makes the new Cap look like a stereo-typical angsty 90's super-hero then saying this.

I'm thinking they chose it because it was dramatic. I saw it and figured he'd probably show more than one emotion.

I think I made the right choice in sticking with Batman only for my one DC book. I've already given up on Action Comics. I'll get some trades of the other "New 52" books down the line if I hear good things about them. Swamp Thing and I,Vampire are the two big ones for me.

When Ivan, Joe and I spoke about Prisoner-Of-War with our editor Pat McCallum we went back and forth quite a bit. We wanted this soldier, this man who was held captive for years and the only survivor of his squad, to be and feel like a faceless victim of war. One who was now fighting for his freedom and identity. But his identity is clouded by the mysterious powers he gained after his fellow soldiers were killed. The shackles he wears are golden like Aquaman’s trident, but a source of another power. When we meet Prisoner-Of-War he is a far cry from the man he once was…or will be.

In my head, that dogtag necklace is what gave Aquaman the inspiration to wear the necklace he wore in Justice League

They changed the DC Comics website and while it looks cooler, the only two pages I frequent- the blog and the comic release date page- make no sense.

Mr. Mind being more serious is good IMO. In the past he was great used that way, like in

    Yes.

That site was minimal and fairly solid, but this upgrade still bucks the trend of being completely without reason. At the same time, yeah, the blog seems like it's just in random order from the last 2 weeks.

Also, I have to say that I read the new Night Force.

    It was... a comic.

Wolfman's dialogue is in a middle-ground between the Bronze age and the current style of comics. So, it's not completely bizarre and stilted and expository, but sometimes it has choppy moments.

The bigger problem was that the book just felt totally generic.

Nocenti's at least switching up the traditional gendered stereotypes of women in comics.

The Source Blog is just a pain right now, I agree. It was the way a blog should have been, top to bottom, newer stuff at top. It works because it's only job was to get information across on a rather limited subject, key news blurbs about DC, and I didn't have to keep on clicking to read the news points. Now it goes left to right with boxes everywhere, which means more clicking and I lose that instant access feel to what it was.

I can understand updating everything else, as it still doesn't feel as painful to navigate the DC site as Marvel's is, just leave the blog alone.

  • RansRans Registered User regular
Yes new website is terrible. The blog shouldn't be so much work to get to the news that DC really really wants you to read. The new comics release page is fucking awful terrible and it's the one thing I always thought DC's site did better than Marvel's site. Now neither of them do anything very well.

This was something I was worried about. Wolfman was great back in the day, but I wondered if he was going to go down the same path as Byrne, Claremont, Stan Lee, etc.; namely that weird trend where creators who were acclaimed a few decades back just can't seem to recapture that magic.

It honestly could get better, Baron Winter is building a team and so far it's just a cop three days from retirement and a girl with amnesia.

This has me a little confused too. Since these guys were supposed to be Aquaman's team before the League, how does that work with the 5 years thing?

I guess I had the impression that this team was supposed to be made up entirely of Atlanteans, but these last 3 reveals have pretty much blown that *ahem* "out of the water."

So having finally gotten to JL 6 I don't really see the issue when it comes to the Motherboxes. They didn't commit suicide or whatever. Looks like the only thing that happened is Cyborg got a pretty big power increase. Which is unsurprising since he(if I remember correctly) is now cobbled together from experiment alien tech and motherbox energy(or whatever).

Help me raise a little cash for my transition costs
