The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I read an article the other day about a dude who had been unemployed for a long time, spending a lot of hours on his computer and such, and he was walking to a job interview when he threw a blood clot and died
"Joe the Plumber" is plunging into politics because he thinks it's about time America had a few mechanics, bricklayers and, yes, plumbers in Congress.
...
"Being a politician is as good as being a weatherman," Wurzelbacher said at a Tea Party rally last year in Nevada. "You don't have to be right, you don't have to do your job well, but you'll still have a job."
He said on Tuesday that he decided to enter politics as a Republican because he figured he'd have no chance to win as an independent.
"Is it the lesser of two evils?" he said. "I don't know."
Joe The Plumber announced he was running for Congress at the other location of the restaurant I work for (there are only two locations)! I used to work there, too, but moved to the better one when it opened.
One of the managers from there came by tonight to get a hotdog bun for him to sign.

so that's why he was a contractor
also, he appears to know nothing about weather or weathermen
Joe "Look, I just want a job. Can you help me out?" Wurzelbacher for congress!

Welp, Occupy Oakland got busted up early this morning. They tried protesting outside of the main library this afternoon and now it's turned into a standoff with police at the original location.
Oakland was crazy just a couple hours ago. People there got tear gassed. Only because they started shooting paintballs at police trying to break up the crowds

lets say im slightly sceptical of that, and even then don't really see how shooting a mostly peaceful crowd with rubber bullets is either going to help the situation or be an appropriate response
and OPD are claiming those are M80s thrown by the crowd. Huh. I mean I would expect flashbangs to be flashier and bangier, but that's hard to tell from camera footage and it really looks a lot like it comes from the cops. There's also this for their claims of not using rubber bullets:
but technically it's some other sort of round (but functionally the same) and well it's a pic on twitter of a guy's hands, not exactly airtight evidence

If I was still living in California I would've been hit by that shit. A friend of mine mentioned on FB that he was going to the thing in Oakland.

This morning's news is telling the right message, I think. Police brutality is the word of the day.
If I didn't have a job in finance and wasn't trying to build a family, you can bet I'd be on the front lines. But I do, and I am, so I can't. But I will comment the fuck out of this thing.
