I spent a good hour trying to beat the fury the first time and I just beat him in a few minutes due to dumb luck. :-s

One of my favorite things about the Metal Gear series has always been how they try to integrate aspects of gameplay into the actual game.

What do you mean by that?

Well, stuff like Psycho Mantis telling you what you have on your memory card, the MGS1 torture scene, the stuff about VR training in MGS2.

Stuff like that, its pretty fun.

Or the Colonel telling you to push the action button.

Metal Gear is probably the only series out there that can get away with doing that. Any other game that has the characters telling you to press the X button just comes off being awkward and silly. X10 if it's voiced.

Playing through MGS3. The Fury is god damn infuriating.

Also I thought Psycho Mantis said I liked Castlevania because it's just another Konami game. Is it really because I have SOTN save data? :-O

If you sneak up on him early in the fight, you can cut open his flame suit with your knife. It makes him take extra damage.

You can hang off the edge of the basement to avoid attacks.

Blow up fuel barrels next to him.

    Hahaha, that is wonderful.

15 years later and I'm still learning new stuff about this game.

That is definitely something I love about this franchise. That there is always something new to discover. Whether it's in the games themselves or the backstory.

I still haven't exhausted all the codec calls in MGS1.

Call Naomi right after you leave Meryl wounded at the Com Tower, back in the caves. She's completely disgusted with Snake for leaving her behind, and Snake tries to convince her this is the only way to save her and that it's tearing him apart to leave her bleeding out like that.

Here's to You has been stuck in my head since I watched that MGS:GZ video. Thankfully it's only been a week, but I'm not hopeful for the future.

Also I could use some folks to play Peacewalker with. Add me on PSN(Edwardwilfred) if interested.

    Kojima is talking at GDC.

or the video of Kojima talking at GDC is available to view. One or the other.

Anyway, it's official, MGSV is Ground Zeroes + The Phantom Pain

And it's MGSV, not MGS5. The V will have meaning, I'm sure.

So Metal Gear Solid V announced for PS3/360.

The Phantom Pain + Ground Zeroes = Metal Gear Solid V according to Kojima. And no David Hayter.

Surprised and happy MGSV is a PS3/X360 game.

I get that most (all) of what we're seeing is running on PC, but whatever. I don't care.

I think the crazier part of all this is we may very well get a bridge between the Peace Walker era and the Metal Gear one.

As in, Big Boss and Snake meeting for the first time. Not all the Outer Heaven prelude.

Makes me wonder WHY Hayter isn't voicing Big Boss...

It's too bad, but I'm not terribly disappointed.

At this point, Snake will probably be a young punk, maybe even a kid, and shouldn't have the gruffness in his voice he does in his 30s. Likewise Big Boss was voiced by Richard Doyle in his later years, so with the time skip...

It ain't perfect, but if they were going to switch, now was the best time actually.

I can guarantee with 100% certainty this is where Les Enfant Terrible begins. My MGS plot senses are tingling.

I'm going to assume this doesn't happen in the Twin Snakes version.

Yeah, it would make sense for them to change Big Boss' VA now if they plan on showing both of them in the same game in either this installment or the next. It'd be awkward to have a VA talking to himself in the same voice.

I guess it all depends on how much time is between Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes. If it's immediately after, even with the 9 year jump, Solid Snake would only be about 11. But there's an extra touch of gray on BB, so who knows?
