Well I still think it looks great.

    So whatever.

    Yup... this.

Although my glowy eyes are really starting to bug me and I hope I don't have to reload a save to get rid of them.

From a technical point, there are lots of things that could make skyrims tundra look better. Ignore the fact that its a tundra, and focus on the technicals. Lots of newer games are set in deserts but still the environments look more convincing.

Same with the lighting. Yes its overcast, but technically the way it was executed it was done poorly.

I dunno man, the lighting that I've seen (everywhere) has been awesome (running on Ultra). I don't see how any can fault this game for its graphics, I think it looks great. Of course there are things they could have done to make it look better, but I don't know of a game that can't be said about. They had to make a giant open world game look the best they could make it look while still being able to run on aging console hardware.

I'm sure you could point to console games that look better but I am willing to bet that their environments are much smaller in scale allowing them to pack in more wizz-bang bells and whistles in a single scene.

Is anyone else getting weird difficulty spikes? Like, I'll go through a cave full of guys I can one-shot and then the final super thug or bandit or whatever he is will take half a point of damage from my x6 crit stealth shot and then wander over and one-shot me with his super hammer. I just don't get it. Some of these are starter quests from random people in Whiterun.

Like in the Companion's Trial for instance:
Farkas? Vargas? was down about 90% of the dungeon because he'd go down at low life and then stand up at the end of the fight and immediately go down to the next enemy that tapped him on the face. At one point I had to reload four or five times because either he teleported through a floor to fight enemies and brought a whole bunch of dudes back that instantly spotted me sneaking and/or more than one of those guys would fight us at a time normally and instantly down my buddy leaving me to deal with it, which apparently I can't, despite the fact that my armor is pretty good and most of my points are in damage skills.

I'm not posting them to show that the game is a work of art, but anyone who thinks it looks objectively terrible has issues or just doesn't understand the definition of terrible.

Maybe if I post pictures of anime girls i drew then that would give me some credibility.

edit: and yeah, I don't know how the character model one is terrible, as that's just how dark elves look. technically, it looks good. stylistically, you can be upset at it as much as you like.

The textures are just bad, look at the furry armband type things, they aren't furry at all, just a very badly done texture, same for the wrist wraps on the gauntlet, and the wood on the shield. All the textures are just kinda horrid, i mean the face is great, but from the neck down it just looks like crap. Although the hair and beard are also pretty bad.

So while out trying to clear quests (and getting about 8 more in the process) a fugitive came up to me, handed me something in a forced conversation, which did not do a thing to stop the nearby bear from killing me twice.

    I never did understand what he said but he supposedly handed me something and I am not sure what the fuck it was. Any help? >_>;

Fugitive: Hey, take this, and whatever you do dont double cross me.

Guy showing up 2 seconds later: Hey did you see someone?

The textures are fine. They're that res because the amount of game time the average player will spend looking at them that close up (as the screenshot) is tiny. I think games get judged too much on what they look like in screen shots and not what the look like in motion.

I think the game looks great and anyone who says otherwise is a doodoo head.

The low res shadows is not a bug or anything, it's just how it is. It works fine for static light on things like buildings, but if the object moves at all like a bush or your character, or the light itself flickers, then it looks like dog shit because the shadow will constantly be shimmering.

    Is the
tour of the College at Winterhold

I started taking the tour with whatshername, then as we were walking along the perimeter of the courtyard, a thug and his atronach attacked us. I killed him, being Dovahkiin and all, but the wizard lady apparently forgot everything she was doing and now refuses to finish the tour, and just says "After we finish the tour, we can talk" whenever I approach.

I have no idea what this is, but seems to be some sort of bug/exploit.

Wielding a melee weapon, double tap attack but hold the second one, the PC will very quickly attack and then power attack as if you were charging it up during the first attack, it looks like a fast one-two combo except the second hit does massive damage

I'm playing on expert and was going through the same problems in level 5-10, in general quests from whiterun that would take me to bandit caves with multiple "thugs" and the occasional bandit highwayman or chief. from my very limited experience (still on first playthrough), I would say there's a bit of a hump to clear until you really feel confident in tackling most outlying areas after your first dragon kill. upgrading equipment via grindstone/workbench helps, using hirelings helps a lot in particular depending on your ability to take hits, but mostly I think you just have to take your punishment and level. I'm now level 20 and actually feeling a little bit unchallenged because of the power curve involved with keeping smithing current and just having solid gear and perks in general.

Why oh why do merchants run out of money? I've got tons of loot taken from the Whiterun castle (taken, because they were all apparently okay with it) and there's only one General Goods merchant that'll take most of the books and Misc crap. I've reduced the merchant to bankruptcy. It happened at Riverrun with all the loot from the Golden Claw dungeon, and it's happening again at Whiterun.

Also, your companion serves as a great secondary inventory for loot. The only problem is, they don't give her encumberance stat, so you have no idea when you're close to overloading her. It's just like, hey, take a guess! Thanks Bethesda.

A dude ran up to me while I was fucking around on the glacier by Winterhold and handed me some Squire's armor or something. It's light armor with an enchantment that boosts your light armor skill. Neato, but I'm using heavy armor. He also said something like he'll be back for it later, don't mess with it or snitch on him or else he'll fucking kill you. I kept it just on the off chance that he DOES show up later and is incredibly powerful or some shit.
