Also, if they market this movie around "COME SEE THE DEATH OF BATMAN THIS SUMMER" i think that's quite exciting, and a cool place for audience to be, everybody going in thinking they are going to see batman die, and then have them mess with our expectations.

But Joker wasn't killed and was definitely the marquee villain, even if he can't show up in DKR for obvious reasons

Yup, he is dead.

wasn't there an interview with the guy who played two face a while back where he was like "hoo hoo hee hee just you wait and see what happens in the next movie maybe you'll be surprised to see someone there hee hee hoo" and Nolan got super upset and wrote him out of the script?

and considering

the prologue opens with Harvey Dent's funeral I think Two-Face was intended to die from the get go
