A shocking, award winning documentary!
33 Minutes that will Rock Your World!

What changed their minds...
...in seconds?

Ray Comfort ministries has produced a "documentary" of sorts ostensibly as an argument against abortion. It rather has to be seen to be believed. The tactics and the content are quite illuminating, the fact that it is convincing to some people is bizarre in and of itself. It is also utterly offensive.

I don't want to spoil it, but there are some very bizarre things in here:
It is 33 minutes long, but he spends 13 and a bit minutes talking about Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust before even mentioning abortion.
It is illuminating that they censor for nudity, but we're still looking at piles of dead bodies. What is offensive here?
I can only imagine the cutting room floor is going to be full of a lot of failed takes...
Even if we grant the idea that the it is "killing a child in the womb" isn't nonsense, the analogy doesn't even remotely work.
The final 8-ish minutes are all about Jesus and ministry.
The flippancy with how "Giving it up for adoption" is treated and actively lauded is utterly bizarre.
Voting against abortion... what?
"Raping and bank robbery can be fun" - Ray Comfort

It's been very heavily denounced by the ADL - http://www.christianpost.com/news/jewish-advocacy-group-slams-anti-abortion-film-for-holocaust-reference-61419/

Perhaps the most interesting thing is that the ultimate purpose the abortion interrogation is a "subtle" piece of propaganda for the GOP...

I can't believe anyone listens to Ray Comfort after he said this

was clearly designed by god to fit this

because he's too stupid to realize humans have engineered it to look like this

I'd never actually seen a non-mutant banana. It looks even more disgusting than the famous one. The reason people still listen to Ray Comfort is people are deranged by their faith and ideology, and the interplay between them.

Stupid was the wrong word on my part, as it actually isn't common knowledge. Most people don't go out and make religious videos with Kirk Cameron talking about how bananas are proof of god's love though so, eh

Is this the same guy who said if evolution was real, we would have found new life forms inside jars of peanut butter by now?

Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron have been known to make this claim, yes.

They have a youtube called "Atheist Nightmare" wherein they also claim that a banana is perfectly suited to the human form, and is evidence of god, which is what override alluded to earlier.

Most people don't know that the bananas we eat now are a different strain than the ones my parents ate in the 60s so there you go.

I still say something really, really dark happened to Kirk while he was shooting Growing Pains that turned him into the evangelical he is today.

Nah, they're the Crocoduck guys. Peanut Butter Man was somebody else. Although Comfort&Cameron may very well have made the peanut butter claim themselves by now.

I once read somewhere on the Internet that Kirk Cameron basically one day contemplated his mortality, didn't like the fact that he was going to cease to exist and so converted to Christianity because then he would live forever after death.

Then again, Kirk also claimed in one of his evangelic videos with his friend Ray that he was an atheist because he 'wanted to be seen as an intellectual'.

What I'm trying to say is, I don't think something dark happened to Kirk. I just think he doesn't really think about things much.

I don't think they're dumb. To put it bluntly, their particular brand of Christianity forces them to think this way or they would have to admit their particular faith isn't true.

    It's sad, but not surprising.

Actually, apparently he was just as crazy on that show, making the writers change key parts of his relationships so it was never even hinted he engaged in premarital sex, he also had the hot blond kicked off the show for apparently "Christian" reasons.

    "Supposedly scientific"

They are actually dumb though. They are shut for new information, they have no possibility of changing a viewpoint. No compromise.

They think glancing at a book about this thing is enough to form a valid opinion because they "know" that everything that they can read about the subject is false, except if it's written by someone who shares their exact point of view.

So yeah, they are dumb. Regardless of what made them what they are, they were probably born not dumb. But they are dumb now. Completely sans intellectual capacity. Which shows in their slanderous methods and fabricated arguments.

Without commenting on the actual content of the documentary, I just want to state I really hate the "Jaywalking" style interviews where you do fast breaks between different people expressing ignorance on your topic. It's so dishonest, because you never know how many people they had to interview to find the 8 who knew nothing, how many days of filming, how many locations they had to go to. You can make any population look stupid by omitting the knowledgeable percent.

Not extincted, small scale production of Gros Michael (the former banana) is still possible and trees do still exist, it's just you can't grow them in any kind of quantity. Once Cavendish goes we'll likely find another one, it will taste a bit different and then in 25 years we'll all be trying to explain to kids how much more banana'y the bananas used to be.

It will probably be this banana...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldfinger_banana

Tastes like a banana crossed with an apple. Unless someone can do something clever with GM to make the Dwarf Cavendish immune to the fungus.

These are basically my views as Ive watched the film:
So, the first third or so is all about the holocaust. Apparently its okay to kill Hitler and its okay to kill Hitler's mother when shes pregnant with zygote Adolf. But abortions? Fuck that noise amirite?

Hitler made up his own god and then discriminated against people for not conforming to the ideals of the god he created. Interesting.

Would you bury a bunch of dying Jews if Hitler had a gun to your head? No? Would you shoot a bunch of Jews if Hitler had a gun to your head? No? Would you have an abortion? wat.

So deeming a fetus not human is like Hitler saying Jews arent human?

Oh shit, after spending 5 or so minutes talking to the same 6 people about the abortocaust we're back to Hitler!

Remember kids, being anti-choice is the honest, intelligent choice.

Oh snap, neo-Nazi guy is back!

    And hes gone again.

    And hes back!

Turns out most people think theyre good people.

Oh, people who dont believe in God dont believe because they dont want to face God when they die. Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

Blonde Girl with Aviators looks like shes going to cry...

I kind of think Blonde Girl with Aviators is baked.

So, Hitler Bad and Abortion is like Hitler so therefore its bad and therefore Jesus is good.

Oh, and everyone should go down to their neighborhood abortion store and watch an abortion.

This video is really dumb. And not funny dumb. Well, neo-Nazi guy was kind of funny. This film almost makes me wish I had a vagina so I could get pregnant and have an abortion. This movie is so bad it almost makes me wish I could have a spite abortion. Note: I dont advocate spite abortions.

    I like your summary.

The thing that I have been thinking about is that the conceit with which the video begins can only work against the purported aim of the video.

Specifically, if we are to believe these people know nothing about Hitler, Nazis or the Holocaust, are we to then take their views on the apparent analogy seriously? It is never established that anyone learns what actually happened in the Holocaust...

The other disturbing thing is that the stumpers - would you shoot the Hitler? Would you shoot the victims etc... Really have no purpose on establishing the analogy. The only thing that they do argue for, in their own demented way is that we should shoot Margerat Sanger or abortion providers to prevent the baby holocaust or something.

I think the political and social recommendations are far more interesting than the terrible argument.

It's an interesting and disingenuous trick that the one person who says "It's not a baby, it's a foetus" is never seen again... It's included to give them impression that it has been addressed, but ignored because it isn't helpful for the railroad which Comfort is running.
