My phone is smarter than I am and I am perfectly ok with it.
some people have phones and tablets that have and some have ones that have
but they are all what we could call "smart" phones or tablets. Not smart tablets. Ostensibly, tablets are dumb.
Apple came out with a new iPad and we all play fun little phone games and talk about how @Big Red Tie has wretched opinions and how apple is objectively better than everything else
I have a hard time believing we hit 100 pages but yeah I love technology so that's what we should talk about now thanks

The day 8 months ago that I discovered I had just purchased a cell phone that had a built-in camera was the day I knew we were truly living in the future.

Dave go to the store.
I impulse bought one on Friday, I just walked up to he store and asked for one and they hooked me up.
The only downside to this is that you will have to see people.

I love my HTC Thunderbolt. With the motherboard failing in my chasing laptop, I was forced to rely solely on my phone for radar data. It worked like a champ when running the PYKL3 Radar app. With out it, I would not have nabbed the tornado I filmed yesterday.
I have an LG something or other. One of those phones that flips open with a qwerty keypad which used to be the hot new thing to keep up with texting. I'm trying to avoid having a smartphone for as long as possible.
I have had a nook tablet since the beginning of the month, so I'm on that bandwagon now I guess.

I like my smartphone, it is a G2 with a keyboard and it is essentially a tiny laptop.
I flashed ICS onto it (Andromadus ROM) and it feels like a whole new phone.
when they tell me that I have to change my login passcode and I can't use the one I've been using for months because it "has to be different for security reasons" and won't even let me change it, and then change it back
BUT
I can just disable the motherfucker completely
how is that more secure apple
tell me how it is more secure
than putting the passcode I want on the phone I paid for, you retards
I don't want an iphone, and fuck Android. I'm waiting for Verizon to carry more than one Windows phone.

Yeah, well when Android becomes a unified platform (won't ever happen) then I'll consider it. I can't see Android holding market share long term. Microsoft has been slow to do much in the market, but I honestly believe that Windows phones are poised to make big gains in the market over the next couple of years because they've managed to avoid the mess of different versions from one phone to the next that Android has become while allowing more flexibility than iPhone. I don't have any illusions about iPhone continuing to be very popular. Different people have different needs and for many, the iPhone scratches the itch they have and should continue to do so for the foreseeable future. It just doesn't scratch my itches.

Honestly I solved the whole "unified platform" thing by
A) not giving a fuck what the other guy has
and getting a Nexus, since it's the closest thing I can get to the True Google Experience on Verizon
If I was ambitious I'd flash a bunch of shit and actually get the straight-from-google updates but I'm too lazy and AOKP is fucking great until CM9 drops
Speaking of which the new AOKP milestone is out and I need to summon up some energy to backup my apps and flash it

I think Microsoft loses out on a lot of the buzz and hype created by the tech blogs and media because the old Windows Mobile phone offerings were always so lackluster. Windows Phone is actually a pretty compelling platform, but a lot of people won't give it the time of day because they've been soured by Windows Mobile 5/6 era devices.
MS does need to push their partners to up their hardware launch cycles, Android is able to command a lot of attention because there's always a new phone coming out with slightly better specs than the last phone - and if you're not using an iPhone, people suddenly become very conscious of the spec list. Older hardware is a hard sell, and if the Windows Phone hardware is several months behind the latest Android the products just don't remain viable on the market for very long.
Still love my G2x. Battery life could be better but I just moved 15 minutes from working so I won't be spending 2 hours on the subway playing with it every day.

The problem you, as a consumer, may not give a fuck about the disparity between OS versions, but developers are stuck having to try to make good apps that will work on so many devices, and then continue to support and update for those same devices, and new ones. That's a tremendous amount of overhead for a developer, especially the small one or two-man shops.
Without high-quality, widely available and desirable apps, the platform won't grow/develop customer loyalty.

I love my Windows Phone, but it does suffer from not being supported with aps. Everywhere I go I see people advertising that they have free aps available for iPhone and Android and I feel a little bit left out.
But thems the breaks! I'm still happy with my phone.

The biggest issue I'm facing as an IT person who has to support smartphones and such are people are stupid and never back up their data. All of our company phones are iPhone 3GS or newer, and I've got them all configured to back up work contacts and whatnot (through Google Sync and iCloud backups) but nobody knows how/wants to back up their personal contacts and data.
No, sorry I can't recover the 200+ contacts that you didn't have saved anywhere else after I upgraded your phone.
The Lumia is actually a really sexy phone, but with Windows 8 so close it doesn't seem like it'd be the wisest thing to get invested in a win phone 7 phone. (such awkward naming) Though, I'm not sure what their rollout of win 8 on phones is going to be compared to tablets/computers.
I have the most universally panned cell phone on the market I think...the Kyocera Echo. Two screens means half the battery life - Yay! It's not a terrible phone though - I can basically play any games that I want. I only do the double screen thing when web browsing though - gaming isn't really great with a ridge down the middle of the screen...
That's something nice about the Windows Phone. All your contacts are stored in the cloud by default. In fact, I don't think you even have the option of not storing them in the cloud. So even should I lose my phone, I'll always have all of my contacts (and pre-pruned, since I had to spend ages getting rid of every _______01!! in my old MSN contact list).

That was your old phone. Your new phone is this:
It can't do anything but I never use it to do anything but calls so, I guess that worked out okay really

12 hours to charge, and then it goes from 100 to 0 in 90 minutes? Yeah, sure, send that one out, it's good.
I had to fight to return it and get a new one.
also since it's cheap I don't have to worry about dropping it and so I haven't even looked at getting a case, so it's nice and thin in my pocket

It has a few little problems. Like the wifi wont turn on after the phone has been on for a while.
But it's really quite cool otherwise.
I can play an MMO on it, this tickles me.

Oh so you still use Blackberry too?
By then it was a bit battered so my buddy who had got a new phone gave me his old one and I just swapped the sim card
My current phone is some kind of samsung touch screen thing which is pretty cool, I guess
though really I would have been fine with keeping the old one if it had not been on staggering a bit
But thems the breaks! I'm still happy with my phone.
Our tech admin keeps taunting us by giving new people iPhones while keeping the rest of us on this sinking ship of a platform.

Not that I can afford a smartphone regardless.
