I started with a few Rage against the Machine songs. Pretty much every song from their 1st disc, although some I never tried, like the opening to Know Your Enemy.
I didn't get a guitar until I was 18 (and out of my parents house...correlation???) I still haven't had a lesson. Used to just hang out with my friends, some of whom were in bands, and picked their brains for anything they were willing to share.
I'm currently shitting myself because I have a lot to learn over exams, I'm owed five times as much money as I own thanks to bank up-fuckages, fraudulent transactions and shitty college admin, and I've turned into an occasional depressed existentialist after a bad experience with weed.

But I'm a perfectionist! I'm still angry I got a B in A-Level physics.
I got 100% in a piece of English coursework for which I hadn't read the book. I just made up a load of theories then found quotes in the book in the bath the evening before it was due in to back it up.

I knew of a site that had charts that were essentially shortcuts for a lot of the stuff your first post went through, so I'd been cheating by using that for about 2 years now.
Also, which of the billions of SG variants did you get?

i was gonna shell out more for a standard, but the only difference I could see was the standard has trapezoid inlays instead of dots, a crest in the headstock, and comes with a free case
thinking of taking the few hundred bucks I saved and also grabbing one of the korean ESP Vipers. they've got EMG 81/85 pickups standard, and that is relevant to my interests

7 strings have an extra B
See, this is what having no musical education does. I just figured it was a D, cuz I always drop my E to a D, and figured some people had an extra D put on there.

No it goes in the same pattern as the rest of the guitar.. 2 1/2 steps down from the previous string

If I took lessons, I'd do slide and flamenco.
