I wish Condi had run for office. I would vote for her with a happy heart.
I don't understand why people say stuff like this about public figures who haven't had to run for elections. What makes fantasy candidates look great to people who share their views is also one of the first things they lose when they start contesting elections.

while, yes, lots of serially composed music is pretty much garbage if you don't have the score or really understand what's going on and read concert notes and essays by the composer
there is plenty of emotive and demonstrably beautiful serial and atonal music
sadly knowing the rationale for why people like boulez write terrible music doesnt make it any the less shit
and the fact that some of it is frightfully clever, in the most pejorative sense, excuses nothing
PLAYA HATIN
edit: although those two are good examples of the form
I am comfortable with saying that most Boulez compositions are masterpieces, but unless you are a serious amateur or professional composer/musicologist, it is debatable the necessary effort required to enjoy even a single piece.
Like, the only piece I can say that I actually enjoy listening to is structures 1a, because I've gone over the score with a prof. But I get so fucking much out of that piece, and I am only getting the tip of the iceberg.
Speaking of Portland, @Arch is visiting and wanted to know if I could meet up with him and his fellow conference-goers tomorrow, but I haven't heard back from him regarding his schedule.

re: cars, a hybrid needs to cost the same as a Nissan Versa and get the same (or better) mileage before it'll sell.
There have been so many infinitely worse times in human history dude.
Like yeah there's tons of awful shit happening now but pre-20th-century empires kind of set the standard for being terrible.
I just saw a bondage session where the girl's feet and hands turned blue... This show is messed up, man.

For his rich musical tastes?
also, I just realized that I fucked up the tone row and used 9 twice. The second 9 is an error. Ignore it.
This makes me sad.

No no no, the past was a beautiful political utopia, unlike the divisive self-centered genocidal Neanderthals that comprise the other side these days.

Eff that. They'll either sell my childhood home or I'll have to buy it, move in and become my father.
This may be edible...
so will you!
My father-in-law was doing his best to sell their home to me last Christmas, constantly reminding me of "things that come with the house."
Too bad it's in Ohio.
Cool. Let me know when you're in Portland too.
the man surrounds himself with sycophants and never talks to people who dont think he is the dogs bollocks, which is really quite funny
