prepare for the weather as well. last year a few frens of mine got sunburned waiting outside in line for the big panels like halo 4 and ubisoft on the bridge over I-5, so sun screen is a must. also a light jacket in case of the small chance of rain.
bring two pairs of comfortable shoes to alternate each day. IMO it helps my feet alot to have a freshly aired out pair of shoes to wear each day
Total newb question but the lines for panels go all the way outside?
The MT line is actually located outside.
Are there any others that are located outside? Or is that the only one?
It was the only one last year. No clue what the layout for this year will be like.

Last year the morning line for HaloFest was also outside (but it was like the morning Expohall line, gone 10 minutes after it opened.) Seeing as there's no HaloFest this year, I'd guess that won't be the same (but who knows!) and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that. (I suppose they could stick something else in the Annex this year that would have a seperate morning line.)
Also if the Main page is being read right and we picked up space in the Hyatt, I have no idea where those lines would be (I'd guess inside just past the lobby, but if I said that and was wrong, I'd be flogged.)

Yeah. It still strikes me as hilarious that the weather advice for PAX Prime is "HOLY SHIT SUNSCREEN" considering the location.

What happened at the Sheraton last year was that the lines used smaller conference rooms as "holding pens" for the larger theaters, as well as sometimes having supplementary lines outside in the hallway. They may do things differently, however.

I was hardly ever over in the sheraton. And although I stayed in the Hyatt, I didn't exactly pay attention to the conference rooms (but it looked like plenty of indoor space for lines, I just wanted people to know!)

THAT'S IT, I'VE RUINED IT! Seriously, if you want a tasty sandwich, GO TO THIS SUBWAY. Yes, there is a Subway in the convention center (roflines). There is even one on the street, which would surely be faster. NO, go to the super secret Subway! You can walk there (3 blocks), eat lunch and enjoy a conversation and still get back before most of the people in the CCSubway lines have even ordered.
Y U RUIN THE SEKRIT SUB?
Damnit man! That was one of my food haunts.
Sorry TOG, it's for our fellow Arcadians! I know, it's totally the best secret spot ever.
How about everyone agrees to keep it to forum users only? Don't spread word too far.
My two cents (with inflation it's more like 1 but still):
- You know how your feet hurt like nuts after a day of lines, wandering the expo hall and running around downtown Seattle? Simple solution: hot water. A hot bath (not shower, bath, you need to soak) is better but if you don't like baths or can't swing it, find a basin and put your feet in hot (as hot as you can endure...not scalding or anything, just hot...it should feel hot, not burn). Just soak your feet while watching tv, vegging or playing Magic (don't drop those cards though). Leave those dogs in the basin until the water's lukewarm. Dry off and rest. Your feet will be almost good as new (if not completely) by morning.
- If you can swing it, take an hour or two (or more) and head over to Card Kingdom. They usually set up a shuttle. Exactly the kind of store I'd always wanted to set up. Large game store with a small bar attached. If you watched Scott and Kris's show, you'll have seen them in there during a few episodes. Awesome place.
- I'm sure everyone covered everything else: comfortable shoes, pack/bag that you can comfortably wear for hours without screwing your back up, bottle of water (as big as you can carry--lines and expensive convention center prices are for emergencies only), energy or granola bars of some kind (I like KIND bars) so you can skip the full meals during expo hours and so you don't have to lose your place in lines--those long, long lines--and please, please, please for the rest of us...shower once a day like someone said.

Lol, yeah, I've mentioned before that there are vastly faster places to eat within a couple blocks of the con before. Funnily enough, I do it like every year on these boards and I still end up seeing tons of people trying to eat at the convention center. *shrugs* Oh well, more for me!

I was wondering if Card Kingdom comes to PAX since they are in Seattle. I take that to be a no? There is a card shop in Portland, Ancient Wonders, that has a pretty substantial booth so I figured Card Kingdom would too.
This is my second year and a couple things I learned from last year:
1) The ever popular, wear comfortable shoes/socks
2) If you bring a backpack, make sure the shoulder straps are comfortable
3) Talk to people in line! I met some awesome people that way and it gives you a break from talking to the people you came with that you already know everything about.
4) Play some of the smaller (like the ipad) games. People don't stop there as much so you can talk to the creators, get advice on playing the levels, and learn about some awesome new games.
5) In your backpack - beef jerky, energy drinks, extra batteries/charger, a camera, a sharpie, hand sanitizer, one of the reusable water bottles like these that collapse flat and clip to your belt/backpack http://www.amazon.com/Water-Go-Foldable-Reusable-Attachable/dp/B005R4O69K
6) Don't eat spicy/rich creamy food if you don't normally. You don't want that coming back to haunt you while you are waiting in line/in the middle of a panel.
7) Relax! Just accept that you won't see/do everything and enjoy the moment!
8) If you don't know something or have a question, don't be afraid, just ask someone!

I was pretty unimpressed with this last year. It was a shop full of board/card games and the bar only served wine/beer from what I remember. We took one bus there and the next one available back.
The store that we loved and will be going back to this year was at Pike Place. I don't remember what it was called, but I believe it was on the lower level near the magic tricks store tucked away in a corner. They have all kinds of memorabilia, toys, comics, it was like a nerdy candy store!

Yes that is a good store. A little lacking on the board games heavily geared toward comics and toys/memorabilia. I too forget the name of the store though.

Oooh! I just remembered a good tip other than "don't drink too much, yo". Take a couple of sips out of a water bottle then put it in the freezer (guess this is for locals only, sorry!). When you get home, put it on the ground and massage your feet with it. I did this after 12 hour bar shifts and it worked wonders on the feet.
I know this is the ugliest thing ever but someone may be interested in getting it for Pax. If you use coupon code 25247 you can get it for $14 and it $3 shipping.

That would be pretty gangly and difficult to use at PAX. Things like strollers already aren't allowed on the expo floor, for example, and I think rolling luggage would be frowned upon for similar reasons. That's like an "out at the beach" solution.

I could be wrong, but I think Dragongem was suggesting it for the hotel rooms. Kinda like extra space to place food/drink in if the fridges in the rooms are not big enough/non-accessible. Again, I could be wrong.

So this is my fist PAX and I wanted to make a calling card for all the cool peeps that I will meet, I tryed vista print but I was too cheap for that and just want help with the whole process... So I searched the forums and there was no "Help With Making Calling Cards" Thread... So I made this thread so that PAX veterans could help me and others make calling cards...

I have thought to make a design using "Magic Card Maker" so that it would be like a cool card but then I was forced to stop because I noticed that I couldn't just print the card so maybe if some one with a crazy printer that could handle making cards was willing to help we could use this forum to post the card so that that Hero could print them for us!

I'm confused. You want someone to help you make contact (business) cards because you don't want to buy them? Or are you looking for ideas of what to put ON a contact card?

Suggestion. If you have the money for it, you can put your info on buttons and use that as your "calling card." Just your name, Forum Handle, Twitter Name, Facebook page, XBL Name, PSN name, Steam name, etc. Maybe not all of that, but the things that may be important to you. That way, you can still pass out your info and still look like you are sort of unique since Prime is more of Button-Centric.

Hello everyone! My hub and I will be driving to Seattle from St. Louis, and should be getting to the Sheraton that friday for check in. We went to East last year, and thought it wise to go Prime this time! I'm not sure if we're driving alone, but we will have several pals up there. Speaking of... Luneowl, Slippery42, Fenrir, Creamsteak... are you guys in here? I saw a few Protoforum names I recognized. If so let me know!

I salute your enthusiasm....driving...wow. Coming from St. Louis myself I usually just hop a plane (The total cost for the planage for the wife and I is about $660, not all that bad considering the price of gas and the amount of time it would take us to drive.)
In any case be sure to add yourselves to the map too. Maybe if there are enough Natiave St. Louisians we can do a get together. (Former-St. Louisian turned seattlite and occasional forumer @Cybit has been known to do such crazy things.)
We felt like taking a proper road trip vaycay this year and see some of the states :-)
I know our pal Slippery42 is flying in and I'm not sure how Creamsteak is getting there.
How do we add ourselves to the map?

Yar. I also have talked to BlackDragon from KC (going to be my roomate at the Sheraton) and Sharkey and his fiance who happen to live in my town. Plus some PAX East peoples.
Excellent! This is gonna be great! East was great, but we've had the chance to get to know some peeps since last year and knowing they'll be there gives me happies!
Hey first-timer here I was wondering what you guys could tell me about the concerts. I really want to go (especially VGO if they're there), but I was wondering if you know maybe how early I'd get in line to go. Any other tips and tricks and whatnots would be much appreciated also
Thanks!

When you need to get in line depends on 1) who you want to see 2) how late in the schedule they are and 3) how close to the stage you "need" to be. If you need to be close enough to think the JoCo was totally looking at you when he was singing "Skullcrusher Mountain" and that means he totally wants you*, then you'll want to be one of the first people in line. But if you're just there for a somebody in the beginning or middle** and don't mind chilling further back, you'll want to gauge what the line is doing (either ask an Enforcer manning the line or follow @PAX_Lines) before deciding if you need to join the line or if you can just pop into the theater as soon as your act starts.
*No, he doesn't. Stop deluding yourself.
**VGO, if they do appear at Prime, might be an exception. They've been the first act on Fridays all times they've appeared (I believe), but they are pretty damn popular, so line joining might be necessary.

I know our pal Slippery42 is flying in and I'm not sure how Creamsteak is getting there.
How do we add ourselves to the map?

@Chrissybot
Yar. I also have talked to BlackDragon from KC (going to be my roomate at the Sheraton) and Sharkey and his fiance who happen to live in my town. Plus some PAX East peoples.
Thanks!
*No, he doesn't. Stop deluding yourself.
**VGO, if they do appear at Prime, might be an exception. They've been the first act on Fridays all times they've appeared (I believe), but they are pretty damn popular, so line joining might be necessary.
