For those not in the know, Cross Assault is a reality show set up by Capcom in which teams of Street Fighter X Tekken players compete for prizes and glory.
Last night [...] Miranda "Super Yan" Pakozdi forfeited a match. The decision to throw the game caused a dispute as to whether or not forfeiting players would be kicked off the show, and how team points would be awarded. However, the thing that really got people talking was Pakozdi's claims of mistreatment by notorious bearded gentleman Aris Bakhtanians. Ostensibly, he made lewd comments about her and wouldn't let up.
According to Pakozdi, the hairy team leader sat at the center of a number of comments made during livesteams that made her feel uncomfortable, and he had refused to show any concern when the issue was brought up. Super Yan explained via Twitter that Aris "made my life incredibly hard and hasn't helped me with that at all. He made it way worse."
Pakozdi noted that in one-on-one conversations with Aris, he made it "pretty obvious that he doesn't give a shit." Naturally, a number of fighting game fans chipped in to let it be known how little of a shit they gave as well.

you are
waaaaaay late to the party on this one
a great many people lost all respect for him and a few others over this whole debacle
there was a good amount of drama in the fighting game community from february through march, but things have quieted down now
this shocks no one, but is still horrible.
like many communities "open and accepting" is implicitly followed by "if you're a straight white dude"
listen
long island joe is a good guy
he's buddies with a higher up at brazzers
but he was one of the main people defending Miranda through all of it
when Marn started acting up, he called him on skype live to slap him down
i know these names mean nothing to you, but
hey satan...: thinkgeek amazon My post |
a bunch of people who will never be able to actually fuck a woman because they're too busy belittling them are actually the perfect people to try to get to buy pornos
but I'm angry now
this is neither here nor there, but people who are aware that the internet exists are not going to pay for porn
It paints us other, more polite bearded men in a less favorable light.
Satans..... hints.....
I understood absolutely none of this.
hey satan...: thinkgeek amazon My post |
brazzers is an internet porn site
riddle me that one batman
Long Island Joe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-1JbxH45NE
was offered a sponsorship by Brazzers
there was an uproar about it, and more than one tournament runner said they wouldn't let joe go on stream with a Brazzers tag
However, Joe was a staunch supporter of Miranda, the lady who was harassed, throughout
and when Marn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHtLhupiVEc
the first guy in the video, started popping off about it all, LI Joe called him up to defend miranda and set him straight live on a stream
god yes li joe is so charming
like, he is a natural replacement for gootecks
but combofiend is hilarious so
okay, no one under the age of 40 who is aware of the internet
Satans..... hints.....
Tell her about the great men who had beards.
Karl Marx. Ned Kelly. That hobo I saw who was wearing a tie and I thought he was looking really sharp.
Okay, clarification: Some people, like OP guy, grow beards to protect themselves from the physical assaults their noxious personalities naturally attract. Others, like Blake T, grow beards as external repositories for the sheer quantities of inherent manliness that even their rugged, muscular bodies cannot otherwise safely contain.
the fuck does this even mean
people were disgusted
now
silence
yes, we are
everybody is
it was instantly condemned by a large portion of people
the people who run the biggest events, Alex Valle, Jebailey , Spooky, Mr. Wizard and the other EVO guys, they don't tolerate this shit
at a weekly tournament, two of the commentators were making light of this situation and were banned from commentating and the stream lost a sponsor (though one of the commentators was welcomed back and they got the sponsor back)
this was an official Capcom event, they sponsored it, and somebody should have stepped in to stop it
the argument was made by their side that the racism and misogyny in the fighting game community was integral, and there was a large backlash about that, too
as far as the SC2 thing, MLG has picked up Soulcalibur V, King of Fighters XIII and, maybe Mortal Kombat? I forget, but a lot of people like the homegrown feel of our tournaments now, and don't want to go the MLG route
basically
you don't even know what you're talking about
the starcraft community is way more centralized than the FGC. The FGC does not have paid commentators, mostly whoever is around at the time and not in a match is the person commentating.
also starcraft fans are huge creepers and their obsession with k-pop girls really weirds me out
also, new router
Well, by making this thread Niall is raising awareness that this is not ok, which is how stuff like this is stopped.
I mean good for Starcraft for having healthy, self policing policies, but chances are there may have been a few people at the beginning saying disparaging remarks. And it's only with some (this sounds sarcastic but it is not) Internet outrage that people realize that it is not ok.
Satans..... hints.....
also I haven't played SG since last we played, i've been hella busy.
also BBQ tomorrow.
But what guarantee do I have that you know what you're talking about, HMM MR SMARTY PANTS SWORD FIGHTER?
it needs to be the return of heihachi/raven
and yeah i think our marvel is gonna run smooth as fuck and i am excited about that
