    Damn yooou!

@Syphyre when it first came out people used to take it seriously, but these days not all the countries do hence the daft entries. Some are still serious and it is considered a good thing to win, but some countries think its lame and uncool. So its a mixed bag really, but most people watching do not take it seriously though. The UK and Ireland do not take it seriously, but Norway seems to, for example!

Just because we don't have terrible artists show up every year does not mean we take it seriously!

Mind you, when Rybak won by getting all the 8s, that was pretty cool.

I actually kinda ...like?...Macedonia's entry. Not being in English probably helps, since I have no idea how terrible the lyrics actually are.

Probably not gaudy enough to do well, though.

And if we're honest, the reason we don't take it seriously is because we never win because the rest of Europe hates us.

    Interesting, interesting...

Welp. Now that I have been introduced to this, I do believe I am going to follow it. Thank you Wiet for finding a way to take up more of my time! Or maybe this is a blessing in disguise; it will give me something to watch when I'm up in the wee hours with a newborn.

Maybe England should co-opt Cee Lo Green and do "Fuck You"

I don't know if anything can live up to last year's Eurovision for me though

It fell on senior week at my college, which meant that only seniors and people they were sleeping with were on campus, with no obligations whatsoever

So essentially every day I would wake up and stumble to the living room wearing nothing but a Hawaiian shirt and watch Eurovision until my lady friend woke up

I like Belarus' entry too. Despite looking like they came out a budget Tron knock-off their song is neat.

To me, it's just a damn good song and she's got a great voice.

Kinda like their winner last year, had some over the top staging, but in the end it was just a nice song.

Can we please only use relevant criteria when judging Eurovision

I really recommend everyone looking at this thread to give the Ukraine 2007 entry a listen because it's pretty much everything Eurovision can possibly aspire to be.

    Basically yeah.

I legitimately love the song, too. I just really really like accordions.

Also I'm still amused that last year like my three favourite songs in the final finished like bottom three.

    It didn't really surprise me.

I was just really tickled that - christ, was it Switzerland? I don't even remember - basically put out a bluegrass band amidst all the ridiculous bombast that is Eurovision.

Of course I knew they were doomed, but it made me really happy.
